The rain

Saw the rain reports, but it apparently didn't rain much in my area (according to internet readings).

Meanwhile I'm hoping it doesnt rain much to spoil my holiday :( :P. Friday and Saturday look to be interesting wet weather days.

An old rant of mine might be still on this forum but, I remember when 40mm of water (within an hour) was enough to flood in and around my house. Made a few modifications, adding extra down pipes on the roof and getting rid of tree roots that blocked the drain to the footpath = all systems go. Even when there were more severe events after that, no more flooding in. The crap side of living in a flood zone area.
We bought a 30 acre block and managed to put our house in the direct location of the natural flow of water (we live at the end of a cul de sac) over the years I’ve put speed humps in my driveway to push the water away and then built concrete spoon drains out the front and side of house as a quick dump of 25mm would have me flooding. Works a treat now.

I did just check my tank inlets and found two birds nests completely blocking my down pipes 🤦‍♂️

I think about 85% of SA has now been put on flood watch over the weekend. If I get the minimum expected over the next 4 days I’ll be happy any more will be an absolute bonus and will help with sub soil moisture for the cropping season.

We'll be lucky to get 5mm I reckon. The band will either stagnate and fizzle out before it has a chance to get here or go down east or west instead.

I dunno , the closer it gets the further south they are predicting. At the start of the week the Murraylands was hardly getting anything. The flood watch is now state wide, I reckon this is going to cause a lot of damage. Be interesting if the new Riverlea area in the north can handle this considering it is built on a flood plain.

Predictably a fizzer (currently about 15mm since it started with maybe a few showers today, but nothing more.) Adelaide's geography doesn't allow it to have torrential downpours like other areas of the state get from time to time.

I can hear the motorsport festival from mine and I've been feeling a bit sorry for them picking the one wet weekend in six months for their event.

One good thing about a relative drought is you don't need to mow the lawn. I haven't mown mine since before Christmas.

A few wet days and the grass is now shooting back up again out of nowhere.

Neigh! It canna be.
AYe laddie...'tis true.
For tis not the patter of cats and wee doggies ye be hearing.

As surely as Nessie resides in her little pond - so too the rain trickles down lighter than a fairy kiss.
