Yeah, he's pretty funny. Now I know who Andre in The League is based on.

I haven't seen The League so I'm assuming Andre is unintentionally funny.

How did this football talk get here???

In more relevant news, the frozen passionfruit drink thingy at Maccas is good stuff.

Yeah, tis good. I liked the Grape one they had there as well.

Someone needs to make a Slushie store, with about 20-30 different flavours eg. an icecream store.

Just got my ATAR (University Entrance Rank thingy) and got 95. Which is good enough to get into pretty much everything bar a few engineering and the higher medicine courses.
Quoting myself...

FWIW, I've decided on a combined degree of biomedical engineering and medical science.

The future will be driven by the nano machine makers who place them inside our bodies and either solve our bodies' problems or will detect a problem that is coming.

I recommend you watch the Charlie Rose program linked below that is filmed on Bloomberg TV studios in NYC, and shown on both PBS and Bloomberg TV every weeknight in the USA and shown in Oz on Bloomberg TV sometime between 11.30PM and 1.30AM CST depending on daylight saving in both countries.

Watch last Thursday night's interview with the CEO of Qualcomm Paul Jacobs, which is on the front of his home page at the moment. Intel make the chips for computers, Qualcomm started 20 years ago making chips with radio wifi technology embedded in the chip, for mobile phones, iPads, tablets and other mobile devices that need wifi connectivity.

Watch from the 24:00 minute mark for the last 5 minutes about the future of biomedicine/bio engineering. The rest of the program is pretty interesting if you are iteresting in general technology, engnieering issues.

I only discovered the show in late September 2011 just before Steve Jobs died. It's one of the my favourite TV programs. Charlie covers every possible topic it seems, and has some amazing guests. His guest list from the last 20 year is at;

From his Bio page

http://www.charlierose.com/about/biography/

Emmy award winning journalist Charlie Rose has been praised as “one of America's premier interviewers.” He is the host of Charlie Rose, the nightly PBS program that engages the world's best thinkers, writers, politicians, athletes, entertainers, business leaders, scientists and other newsmakers. USA Today calls Charlie Rose, “TV's most addictive talk show.” New York Newsday says, “Charlie's show is the place to get engaging, literate conversation... Bluntly, he is the best interviewer around today.”

Charlie Rose is unique. The round oak table, perhaps the most recognized table on television, and the black backdrop, provide an intimate atmosphere for showcasing smart conversation. Journalist Morley Safer, of CBS' “60 Minutes,” calls the program “the last refuge of intelligent conversation on television.”

Guests on the show include major international political figures and a mixture of renowned personalities from literature, theatre, film, dance, fashion, sports, science, medicine, and business. Guests have ranged from international statesmen Tony Blair and Nicholas Sarkozy to Nobel laureates Muhammad Yunus and Harold Pinter to leaders in business like Warren Buffett and Ted Turner. In the artistic arena, Rose's guests range from actors George Clooney and Helen Mirren to musicians Paul Simon and Neil Young. His program serves as a window on cultural areas rarely seen on TV like architecture, painting, photography and classical music.

.....

Charlie Rose Special Edition presents hour-long profiles on important topics such as the Human Genome Project, and a year long, 13-part Science Series underwritten by Pfizer.

I just watched the whole thing. It's quite scary but also very amazing at how technology is moving and changing so rapidly, such to the extent that we may even have a "digital sixth sense" in the very near future.

I watched this lecture on YouTube a few months ago by Professor Emeritus Al Bartlett of the University of Colorado-Boulder about the exponential function, and he uses it to show how the overpopulation of Earth is perhaps the most serious issue that we as humans are facing. The advances we are making in health science, such as the little chips that go in our blood stream to detect heart attacks two weeks in advance as Paul Jacobs suggested, and similar technologies, while an extraordinary feat of the human mind and its capabilities, perhaps will contribute to this overpopulation.

I know this 'brave new world' is coming, but frankly I can't be bothered getting on the bus.

I know this is a little late but new York and LA r both dumps. San Fran or San Diego much better and civilized. Also new Orleans pisses all over Vegas in a "party town" contest :-)

I love the Bay Area. Even the much maligned Oakland has its awesomeness. San Francisco is also great because public transport is excellent and you can get around everywhere with a bike.

To appreciate Los Angeles you definitely have to be staying in a nice area. The South Bay beach areas of Manhattan, Hermosa and Redondo are awesome.

From what I recall, Hollywood was the epitome of a dump, although Anaheim was really quite nice.

I can't be bothered getting on the train either

Can't get you into town until February anyway (more like September for Noarlunga and Belair line riders).

Almost forgot how good a player Darrell was. Such a nice mover with skills to match.

There were stories that Darrell would enjoy a smoke at half time. Can't imagine that a smoke at any time before, during or after a game would go down too well with Hinkley, if Darrell was playing today.

I once read that Darrell Cahill nearly finished up playing for Glenelg due to the mates he had at Glenelg, many of which he played golf with (Darrell apparently worked at the golf club there). Fortunatley he stayed at Port in the end, although I think a clearance application was put in).

I don't think smoking during breaks would have been that unusual pre mid 80's. I've even heard that Barrie Robran used to indulge in the tobacco habit at half time during the 1970's.

I once heard a story about Gary Ablett having a massive lamb roast an hour or so before a game, and then going on to kick a big of goals that day.

I think Cahills transfer request had to do with him being the greenskeeper at Glenelg Golf Course and not being arsed driving to Alberton after work.

No one at Port has mates at Glenelg.
