In year 12, abusing our library privileges by spamming F5 with mates. Many hugs were had that day.

Shaved bald a couple weeks later and had the Juddy nickname for a while. Went down to my first training session not too long later and watched a bit of it from the interchange. My mate exchanged a kick with Aisake.

Good times. :)

If Judd retires you can bet one of the top Vic teams will be straight on the phone to his manager offering a truckload of cash. Still has one or two good seasons left in him, would be incredibly damaging in a top team where he wouldn't get the attention he does with Carlton. Think the Hawthorn Stuart Dew situation for a team like that he might be the difference between runners up and premiers. Would be a shame to see him retire just because the media say so and because we are really poor and will be for some time.

I couldn't stand to see Juddy wearing any colour other than navy blue (obviously old footage of him in a WCE guernsey is an exception). He's set up a few business venture and has always said that he wants to stay away from footy once he's retired, so I can't see him going anywhere else or taking on a coaching role.

Heard this little rumour today:

Malthouse has told Kane Lucas he will never play for Carlton again. Told him that after the first Collingwood match in front of all other players. Lucas says players don't like Malthouse. Have no respect for him. Source is someone I know who is in the cheer squad.

I take what Lucas says with a grain of salt though. You usually always see people who are crap at their jobs think that their boss is a prick.

Love your work Dom but I can't see that being true.

You don't actually believe that do you? :P

Players hate Mick.....next minute Gibbs & Murph sign long terms contracts, Yarran (who apparently hates Mick too) re-signs + Walker, Jamo, Simmo & soon Levi & Menz.

Funny how it's all the players that can't get a game (i.e. Lucas & Laidler) who speak badly about Mick.

I mean even Bootsma spoke glowingly of Mick just last week.

I wouldn't be too bothered with Judd going to another club, after all that he has given us, he deserves another flag and we can't give it to him. There is one thing he might be able to give though and that's another team's first round draft pick, that I could handle. Judd gets a flag and puts a navey blue brick in the wall of our rebuild on the way out. What I would hate is seeing him go to another club and us get nothing and you can bet there will be teams all over him if he does retire with big fat one year contracts.

Not every player is going to love the coach

I read else where the players love Mick, players signing up...

Ok maybe he pulled Lucas up on a few things, however..

Lucas hated Ratten too.

Conveniently he couldn't get a game under Ratts either.

Looks like there is a pattern....

Judd will retire because he is cooked & can't play on. Not because we suck.

Yeah thats exactly what I told my mate when he told me.
Its always the fringe players or the dud players who say crap stuff about the coach.

This exists at all footy clubs (and other sports as well) at all levels, players who get a game love the coach those who are borderline and don't get a game or don't get to play where they want don't. I think there is a bit of sorting the men from the boys going on at Carlton and a big clean out of poor attitudes. I think Mick is testing them. Heard an interesting story from Eloise Southby (daughter of Geoff and Aussie Netballer) who went to the academy as a young netballer and was coached by Joyce Brown (mother of Fraser), apparently was a very hard task master, threw a lot of negative comments at the girls, I think along the lines of "not good enough" or "not going to make it" which Southby copped. Late she finds out that all the harsh criticism was about testing the players mental toughness. Some girls it made more determined like Southby and others didn't handle it. I think Mick will be doing a similar thing and maybe Lucas is the guy who can't handle it. You can bet Yarran copped a fair bit last year and he initially reacted poorly but look at him this year, he's so much more competitive and one of our best. Also probably why Fraser Brown was such a tough and successful player and person.

All the gun coaches say that footy is mostly played between the ears, being nice and supportive doesn't weed out the mentally weaker individuals (sooks). There are plenty of players out there who have skill and ability but are soft. Mick will want players to go out there and prove him wrong when he gives them a belt like Lucas has illegibly copped. He will want to see players who can cop it on the chin and are better for it. Some will sulk, go to the VFL and do nothing and more than likely leave. Waite, Garlett and Lucas come to mind. You can bet the ones who can hack it will be the ones who are loyal, will handle pressure and perform in big games and will be able to stand up and play while injured or when the team needs them to. He's not just trying to get guys into the list who can play but get a list of guys who are mentally tough and hold the right qualities and create a culture that wins games of football. It's just what you have got to do.

I see the common denominator here..........Coaches. If we didn't have a coach, Lucas would be a jet. I know, next year Kane Lucas to be Captain Coach. We'd(He'd) get a Premiership and a Brownlow.
Sorry Sugar..........time to go. You are the weakest link. Goodbye

Lucas had plenty of opportunity last year but failed to cement himself in the team when it counted.

After that performance of his vs Collingwood, I'd imagine many of his teammates didn't want him out on the field again either. Shocking performance.

I heard MM told Kane he needs to harden the F up, stick tackles and put in a second effort after he disposes of the ball so poorly with the first... I heard me say that... while watching Kane Lucas play.

But seriously... MM told Kane that. (he really didn't).... (probably did).

This is the rumour thread. The Lucas thing is a rumour. Why are people bagging Lucas on the basis of a rumour? Some disclaimer adjustments to be made perhaps?
