Imperative we pick up 2 wins in our next 2. Got to hope Arsenal don't slip up against the Mackems tomorrow as well. They then play Stoke away and Chelsea at home, if they lose all 3 and we win our next 2, I think we're a good chance to stay up!

2 points from City and Liverpool are amazing results though - especially when you consider how City and Liverpool have been dismantling teams of late.

Good chance we lose as we are just deflated and they are at home and hungry.

Please don't mate! You have a top 4 finish to secure remember :p

Well played Geordies and deserving of a point. Don't worry about the 2 goals too much - they were both superbly finished and you get the feeling most defences would have conceded. Another good performance although Scumberland taking a point negated it :(

Really hope the toon stays up.

Arsenal not dispatching of the Mackems hurts a bit and took a bit of my optimism after the draw with Liverpool. I'm worried that even if we win all 3 of our remaining games, it might not be enough.

Can't look too far ahead and have to take it a week and a game at a time but a definite worry.

They have - I'd back them to at least win the Everton game and possibly Watford. Stoke away could be tricky but Stoke are in bad form. Chelsea at home - Mackems unfortunately have a canny ability to nab wins against more fancied outfits late in the season...

Stoke City (A), Chelsea (H), Everton (H), Watford (A).

The tide has turned somewhat but the big question is whether it has come to late.... Wins against Palace and Villa would be 6 huge points and if we can sneak a result against a Spurs side that has already been beaten to the title by Leicester, that would give us another 7 points

It's really hard to get a read on how Sunderlands remaining fixtures will pan out, based on their remaining fixtures I will go with a point against Stoke, a loss against Chelsea, a win against Everton and a point against Watford, that gives them 5 points from their remaining fixtures.

Norwich play Arsenal (a), Man Utd (h), Watford (h) and Everton (a), can't see them getting anything against Arsenal or Man Utd, at least a point against Everton and a win against Watford, that would give them 4 points from their remaining games

Based on that we would stay up

Newcastle - 37 points
Sunderland - 36 points
Norwich - 35 points

Based on this hypothetical, our final day against Spurs could determine everything, lose that we would remain on equal points with Sunderland (assuming their fixtures go the way as above), we would likely drop because of our poor goal difference.

Alli is in hot water for a 'punch' on a West Brom player so might be suspended for the game - if we can pick up 3 wins, I think we might pull it off. 7 points and I'm not so sure - Mackems are definitely hard to read with their fixtures. I think we need them to slip up once or twice to hand us back the intiative. Right now, they have the upper hand (a point ahead with an extra game to play).

If we were to win our final 3 we would stay up, but 2 are a must, Palace and Villa are those which we should be aiming for, the more I think about Spurs on the final day, if we go into that on the back of wins against Palace and Villa, we could have some really solid momentum, if Spurs have lost out in the title race (which it's looking increasingly likely that they have already) we could well catch them at the right time and get a good result, very confident of staying up if we win all 3 regardless of the others as I can't see the others getting maximum points from their games

Sad and scary predicament.
Raffa has the teams organisation and performance improving weekly so fingers crossed
Obviously McLaren should have been punted months and months ago.
It was obvious then and more obvious now.
HOWAY!!

If you look at McLaren's past managerial jobs he hasn't performed well at all, the exception to this is the work he did in Holland. He shouldn't have even been in the job in the first place, he strikes me as a decent type though so I was happy to give him a chance but he just wasn't up to it, he should have been gone before Christmas, Rafa has done a great job and the results are starting to come, just have to hope we can get enough points to beat the drop, I think we can (I hope we can!).

Gini in for Perez otherwise unchanged. Huge game against Palace who are out of sorts in the league at the moment and just made the FA Cup final. Hopefully they cruise through and Pards and Cabaye leave empty handed on their return!

:p

QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“Pardew is very smart in training but he’s too hot tempered in matches, so he even forgets how many substitutes are left. He told me to warm up, then we used all three substitutes, so I sat on the bench again. Five minutes later, he told me to warm up again so I told him there was no substitutes left. He just said: ‘Oh, sorry’” – (soon to be ex-) Crystal Palace midfielder Lee Chung-yong is none-too-impressed with Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew.

Out of the drop zone! Got the win we needed. Bloody Stoke conceded an injury time penalty to give the scum a draw.

We just need Chelsea to beat them away and we will have the upper hand again...

Yes!

What a goal from Toonsend & the save from Darlow - wow!

Very enjoyable stuff. If only we'd boned McClaren earlier.... we'd be sitting back now enjoying this a bit more. Still very stressful stuff.

At least one of your teams did ok today NUFC Tiger ;)

Good result, it was a fairly even game across the 90 mins so great to get the 3 points, goodness that Penalty stop was great, I have no idea what the hell Sissoko was doing but it was a penalty and had it not been for Darlow we would have had to likely settle for a point. Considering that Norwich and Sunderland both lost points (Sunderland got their point at the death which is annoying) it's been a good day

It was really dumb, but I don't even know if it touched his arm. Either way - thanks to Cabaye for a soft penalty attempt!
