To be fair, does it really matter in the end how much City paid for him?? It is not like 5-10 million here or there makes any difference to the old savings account!

There's FFP considerations but I presume the people in charge have got that under control.

To be honest I've not seen enough of him to say he's worth £30m or £3m. But he does seem to have a few neutrals excited even at £30m. Unfortunately one of those neutrals is Jamie Twitcher Jnr who thinks he will be the signing of the summer. So he's probably useless.

And this what Twitcher Jnr says about him

If only Jamie wasn't a complete imbecile I'd be inclined to get a bit excited.

Fernandinho is a sensational capture for Manchester City. He could be the best midfielder in the Barclays Premier League next season.

Chelsea have made their own statement with the appointment of their manager, Jose Mourinho, but Manchester City are making all the noise off the field with their signings.

They needed more power in midfield, having been over-reliant on Yaya Toure. Both Gareth Barry and Javier Garcia are too one-paced.

Fernandinho can become a monster. His stand-out Champions League performances for Shakhtar Donetsk suggest he will be a weapon in the Premier League once he comes to terms with the increased fitness demands.

He is an expensive investment for a player who has just turned 28. His fee and salary is believed to be costing £30million but it’s not as if City are hard up.

Full name Fernando Luiz Rosa (Fernandinho means little Fernando) he is thin up top but his power comes from his thighs and he covers the ground at speed.

There is nothing worse as a midfield player than a rival who runs at you. It takes you out of your comfort zone.

We pigeon-hole midfielders into what they can and can’t do. This Brazilian can do the lot. He can play one-twos at real pace, drive at opponents, tackle, intercept, win the ball and set up a breakaway. He is what City have been missing.

speaking of twitch jr, i was watching spain/russia u/21's last night and isco got compared to him by i believe it was martin tyler.

if you can somehow get the 2nd half of that game you'll see the isco disco running the show, he was man marked in the first half by the russian defensive mid. thiago is also fantastic.

Of course you have the cash. Youve already made 2 bids for schmeichel in the millions so it's obviously there. If you're relying on Mannone you really are in trouble. There is so much better out there than that.

Mannone was class with us, and that'll be a big part of whether or not he comes back. We have the money but would clearly rather spend it elsewhere, which is why we aren't tripping over ourselves to throw millions at Schmeicel.

I want Isco just for the song.

Mannone was class because he was playing the championship. That's his level. Similar to Almunia, he will get caught out against class opposition that you just dont find at the championship level

Hmm, not too sure about that. Stockdale didn't look out of place for Fulham in his stint in goal, but was terrible for us. I don't think it's as directly comparable as you're making it out to be.

I'd suggest you ask any Arsenal fan.

There is so much to read into it. Stockdale saw going to Hull as a demotion. Mannone saw it as a chance to prove himself. For the money you'd spend on Mannone, there are better quality keepers out there.

But I'm saying Mannone would be free next year, lol. Mannone also works incredibly well with our defensive core of Chester, Hobbs, Mcshane, Rosenior etc. Who are all still there. You have to take that into account too, and that the kid was thrown into the spotlight with Arsenal to sink or swim. Anyway, wrong thread for this.

Mourinho readies £110m Cavani, Jovetic & Hulk splurge

Jose Mourinho will announce his return to English football with a stunning £110 million triple swoop for Edinson Cavani, Hulk and Stevan Jovetic - with the latter already believed to have agreed a move to Chelsea.

I meant in wages. I couldn't care less either way. And yep agreed.

Would rather Cavani, Schurrle and a decent CDM.

When asked yesterday if he has had contact from Chelsea Hulk responded '"If I said there wasn't anything in it, I would be lying"

Not sure how I feel about this one.

WHAT!? Hulk is an amazing player. Would be great to have him.

And here was me thinking the "Special One" was genuine when he said success at Chelsea was going to come through hard work and determination, not big spending :)
