THIS GAME HAS NEW ROLES. PLEASE READ THE OP CAREFULLY
Basic Rules:
At the beginning of the game each player is given a 'role' at random and in secret by the moderators (me), via PM. Regular villagers don't receive a PM naturally. Those roles belong to 1 of 3 factions: The Untouchables and Chicagoan's (good), The Capone's (evil) and The North Side Gang (evil).
The aim of the villagers is to identify and kill all the Mafia before the Mafia take over Chicago and the Mafia's aim is to gain control of the village by killing enough players so that their Mob outnumbers the villagers. Only one faction (Evil/Good/Independent) can win.
How are players killed?
Each 'turn' of the game will last 24hrs or so and also represents one 'day' of game time, thus a game will go on for several days before it is concluded. There are two 'phases' to every turn of the game;
Night Phase (8:00pm – 9:00am): When the Mafia secretly decide amongst themselves, via PM communication, which villager (one per night) that they shall make a hit and then each inform the moderator of their vote via PM. Votes for the night phase are to be in no later than 9am.
Day Phase (9:00am – 8:00pm): After the hits been announced, everybody, villagers and Mafia alike, discusses and ultimately votes publicly in the game-thread upon which player (one per day) that they shall arrest and remove from the game. Votes for the day phase are to be in no later than 6pm.
Obviously during the day the villagers will want the group to vote for and lynch a mobsters, whilst the Mob themselves will want not to be arrested; herein lies the fundamental strategy of the game:
Can the villagers identify the Mob whilst at the same time convincing the rest of the group that they're not themselves a mobster? And can the Mobsters convince the group that they're not evil at all and thus avoid being arrested?
Game Etiquette:
There are two main rules which everyone must follow in order for the game to run successfully;
KILLED PLAYERS MUST LEAVE THE GAME
If you are killed/arrested at any point during the game then you are no longer allowed to participate although I will allow a farewell post, but that post cannot impact the remainder of the game. Anyone breaking this rule will be banned from the next game.
THERE MUST BE NO PRIVATE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN PLAYERS EXCEPT INTERNALLY BETWEEN THE MAFIA
Between non-mafia, sending PM's or other forms of private communication concerning the game is not allowed.
Anyone found to be breaking the above rules will be banned from the next game, and repeat offences will result in being banned from all future games should there be any; please follow the rules and keep the game legitimate.
For this game we will not be using the Reason for Lynching rule. Vote for anyone for any reason at anytime during the Day Phase.
Voting:
During the Day Phase players must vote for whom to lynch, your vote must be formatted like this:
VOTE: <Player Name>
@ Frankston Rover <- Tag me in your votes please!
For this game you may not use the No Vote vote option.
Upon the voting deadline (end of day-phase) the votes will be tallied by the moderator and whoever has received the most will be arrested and be out of the game: remember, once killed/arrested you cannot take further part; do not reveal your roles to anyone until the game has been concluded.
Any ties in voting will be decided by a coin toss scenario.
Missing 2 lynch votes in a row will see you mod-killed. Missing 2 night actions (if given a role) will see you mod-killed.
GAME START:
The North Side Gang will be the only team to have a night action kill on Night 1.
ROLES:
EVIL
The Capone's
Al Capone (Godfather) - Cannot be lynched*. If targeted at night, a Street Thug will die, if available. If not, a Goon will die. If no Goon's are left can be lynched or whacked. Can order a hit on another player each night and can seer another player at night.
Frank Nitti & Tony Accardo (Goons) - In same PM as Capone. Only Goon's can recruit Street Thugs. Recruitment can occur only as a Night Action.
Team cannot recruit and kill on the same night. Teams will be given an option to recruit OR kill if the nominated recruit is available for hire.
Teams may only have two goons at any one time.
Street Thug deaths when protecting the Godfather will be selected at random.
Goon deaths when protecting the Godfather will be Tony Accardo first then Frank Nitti last.
North Side Gang
Dean O'Banion (Godfather) - Cannot be lynched*. If targeted at night, a Street Thug will die, if available. If not, a Goon will die. If no Goon's are left can be lynched or whacked. Can order a hit on another player each night and can seer another player at night.
Vincent "The Schemer" Drucci and George "Bugs" Moran (Goons) - In same PM as O'Banion.
Goon deaths when protecting the Godfather will be Bugs Moran first then Vincent Drucci last.
Street Thugs x 5
Start off unaligned but can be recruited by either crime family. All Thugs can be recruited to one gang. Once in a gang, they will be killed first if Godfather is targeted at night. If a Goon dies, they can be promoted to Goon as a replacement – at the Godfather’s discretion.
Recruitment is done via the Evil PM’s. Evil teams may nominate a player each night and will be told if that player is available for recruitment. If a player is available, they can choose to recruit or kill but not both. Once recruited, the Street Thug will be added to the Evil Team’s PM.
The Street Thugs can be whacked at any time - day or night - by order of the Godfather’s. The player must be recruited to a crime family to be killed this way. Godfather must specifically nominate the player in the PM.
Street thugs not aligned with an Evil team will win with Good.
St Valentine’s Day Massacre
If one evil team can correctly nominate the current Godfather and/or Goons (if any are alive) of the rival faction, that team will recruit the other team and that team will serve as underlings (Street Thugs) to the successful faction. The successful team will gain the ability to seer, kill and will recruit all street thugs (if these functions are still available) of the rival team (including Snitch if in play) until such time the other original Godfather is killed.
Each team will get three chances to nominate their guesses – to be used at any time. Once all three nominations are used up, there are no more.
GOOD
Untouchables - Same PM
Eliot Ness (Seer) - Cannot be lynched at any time. If targeted at night, Oscar Wallace dies first. If Oscar Wallace is already dead, can be whacked. Can seer any player as a night action.
Jimmy Malone - Starts with St Jude Medallion of Protection which he will pass off to a player of his choice on Night One. Gets a 'one off' Seer at any time in the game. If killed, seer is void.
George Stone (Vigilante) - Can kill one player each night of his choosing.
Oscar Wallace (Doctor) - Can protect one player each night, including himself once. Cannot protect same person two nights in a row.
Snitch
The Snitch will appear as a Street Thug to ALL Seers. Once recruited to a Crime Family, he can then pass on information to the Untouchables. Information can be a name but can only be the Goons/Street Thugs*. Information can name someone who is NOT the Godfather if they wish. Only one player name can be passed on each night. Snitch can reveal their own name to the Untouchables via PM if they wish but this will count as one name and no further information can be given that night.
If Snitch is promoted to Goon within a gang, they can then pass on the name of the Godfather.
The Snitch and or Street Thugs can be whacked at any time - day or night - by order of the Godfather’s. The player must be recruited to a crime family to be killed this way. Godfather must specifically nominate the player in the PM.
An evil team with the Snitch as a member cannot win.
Chicagoan x 14+
Normal players who can vote to arrest (lynch) a player each Day Phase. The player with the most amount of votes will leave the game (depending on role). If a player cannot be arrested or has possession of the St Jude’s Medallion, the player with the next amount of votes shall be arrested.
Chicagoan’s cannot be recruited to a crime family.
Well Connected - 1
This Chicagoan is well connected. Killing him is a no-no. Any team killing the Well Connected player will not be able to kill the next Night Phase.
The Well Connected Chicagoan will be selected at random from the remaining players. They will not be told they are the Well Connected. They will appear as a normal Chicagoan to all Seers.
St Jude’s Medallion
Can be passed around one group once before it must be passed off. Can be 'waxed' from Chicagoan to Chicagoan if they wish. Holder of medallion will not be able to be lynched or killed as a night action. Holder must nominate a player to pass medallion on to before end of Day Phase otherwise Medallion will be randomly redistributed.
GAME WILL COMMENCE ONCE WE HAVE 32 PLAYERS.
GOOD LUCK!
