I've always wondered - the Peanut Butter and "Jelly" in USA is Peanut Butter and "Jam" here, right?

I tried that combination once and it was....well sickening really - overly sweet and the acidity from the jam and ...(fat?) of the peanut butter flavours didn't go well together at all.

Jelly is literally like jelly tho. Jam is jam = more fruity.

I think they have both kinds in the states but the former is more common.

Haven’t had one for ages. Got to be done properly while camping and with a chocolate that isn’t too sweet.

Good American food is stuff that isn't completely OTT with flavour.

On top of the fact that their portion sizes can be absurd, a lot of dishes are overdone with sugar and/or fat and/or salt that they aren't enjoyable. You get a good old fashioned American hamburger with a good bun, beef pattie, melted cheese etc. and it's amazing. You get something with 500g of processed meat, 8 slices of processed cheese etc. and it's gross.

We had apple pie that was baked fresh on the spot by some kind of religious weirdos (Mormons I think, it was Utah) and it was the ****.
