Dogs fans thought they had it in the bag. I knew better. ****ing Jarman.

Wish it had been Dogs v Saints GF, no offence.
no offense taken - I would have liked to see the saints win - because **** Footscray..

What happened in 1998 that was so bad. Unlike sending a team who finished equal 1st to interstate for a semi.
the team that won the flag got belted in the 1st final after finishing 5th

2011, M1 Front Row for the GF.

I was nosebleeds in 2011, but ended up weaselling my way to front row in the 2010 Replay because drunken me told the ticket guy at the gate I'd back him up when it looked like someone was gonna punch him! He befriended me and spied Saints fans leaving and gave me their seats! He was also a Collingwood fan and even found me at the end of the game for a celebratory hug! I never even caught his name :$

One of my favourite games that I've been to is the 1986 first semi between Port, and Woodville, and I'm a Sturt fan. It was the first sign of Malcolm Blight's coaching genius, Woodville had been hopeless for thirty years, and Port were all powerful, although they probably would have been considered in a "rebuilding phase", if we'd used that terminology back then. It was a great story.

Don't get me wrong, I go to regular season games and even finals as a neutral, but I feel that a GF doesn't have anything to offer to people that don't support the teams involved. I'll never attend a Grand Final unless the Blues are involved (inb4 'so I guess you'll never attend a Grand Final then')

Idk if this is accurate, but it is something like a .2% chance of getting front row tickets- like thru the ballot. I had the weirdest feeling- that my friend had to register us for the ballot. Not me- her. She is just lucky, and yup we got M1 row A. I screamed the house down when she rang me up on Monday from Ticketmaster. :D

Have been good in general tho with GF tickets, only missed out 2007 on the ballot. By about 3pm Monday I had a ticket anyway.

I cant even imagine how much $$ you guys would spend on flights and accommodation as well. And we bitch about having to just shell out for the tickets!

last few times Ive been to Melbourne I've gotten pretty lucky with cheapo flights but hotels are annoyingly pricey.
would be worth any price to see the Blues win a flag though. i would cry so much.

Why? There were no injustices in 1998. Adelaide won in Sydney, then in Melbourne, then in Melbourne again.

1996 and 1999 on the other hand...

1996: 4th beats 5th, 3rd beats 6th, 6th hosts 4th the next week.
1999: 5th beats 4th, 3rd beats 6th, 6th hosts 5th the next week.

Were you not old enough for 1995?

I went to that one, certainly cried. :( (at home)

Why I asked the question.

1997: 2nd lost to 7th, travelled to Adelaide the next week.
