does it matter? if its in the contract then they can charge the amount.

this is how businesses like these make money, they rely on idiots doing dumb sh*t like this.
Which is extremely predatory. You sound like you're in support of the companies who extort their customers like this

is it extortion if its in the t&cs? if you are dumb enough to do something that will cost you a shitload, and the T&Cs are in the contract you sign......then yes, why shouldnt they charge you for it?

sounds like modern society - blame someone else for doing dumb shit and expect to cry your way out of it.

My phone was a very handy alarm clock when i went OS the last time.
(Until i got to Europe where it would actually work and bought a separate SIM card)

last time i went overseas was around 2012 and we just bought a phone/sim plan while in the states for a month. It was only used for the group of us over there to keep in contact during our trip, especially when we got seperated while drinking or needing someone to pick us up the next morning 😜

bored more like it and laughing at people who complain about doing dumb sh*t and it costing them money
You really reckon a bloke deserves to be stitched up $10k because he left his data roaming on by mistake when he streamed his wedding vid? You don't think that's overstepping the boundary at all by the service provider?

By mistake or forgot to turn it off and is therefore at fault?

is it stitched up?
I don't know how much you have in savings, maybe you're very well off and 10k is a drop in the bucket, I don't know, but that kind of money will cripple most Australians indefinitely. It's ridiculous to say that is a fair cop just because it says on a piece of paper they'll owe x if they exceed y or however it used to work. Sets a dangerous precedent when companies can include that stuff in contracts and get away with charging such weighty fees

Could be worse, you could be ponying up a couple of hundred million to not buy submarines.

dangerous precedent that businesses charge fees they tell you they are going to charge? real dangerous 🤣 🤦‍♂️

next you'll complain he hired a car with a km limit and had to pay extra because he drove a million kms..... 🤣 🤣

It's a ridiculous perspective to have to side with a corporation who can cripple somebody financially because of something so insignificant, because some of piece of paper somewhere says so. If a family member of yours had this dilemma, I don't think you'd have such a lack of sympathy
