Education & Reference Things you do instead of studying?

So it's that time of year again where exams are as close as two days away, and if you're like me you will find any old thing to do instead of studying.

Today I find myself watching my first VFL game of the year, whilst playing on Bigfooty and waiting for the Geelong game to start to follow that and my Sc players.

What do you do to keep yourself from studying?

My exams are in the last three days of the exam period so had over three weeks to study for them.

I've just killed a week without doing anything.

Bigfooty is a great time killer. I don't think I've gotten up earlier than midday. I've done a bit of fitness work. I've watched the entire series of Survivor Tocantins in the last three days.

I'm going to start studying on Monday.....

Laugh at people who are still at school/uni.

Seriously though, I'm 26 and I am just coming to the end of my first 12 months when I haven't been a student in one way or another since I started preschool. It is really, really weird and I miss the intellectual stimulation. I thought I'd be relieved, but now I'm thinking about doing an MBA.

It's odd, when you're studying you just want it to be finished but afterwards you remember it fondly.

Funny but now I've been in the workforce for 20 years, I look back and think study is easy in comparison. Instead of study I generally come home and work for another couple of hours.
I remember doing my business degree around 12 years ago part-time, before kids and it wasn't too bad going to school after work.
Now, doubt very much whether I'd be able to fit in even a short course.
Exam results would play a much bigger part in career paths these days, I sympathise with students these days:confused:

Juggling work, family and the MBA is bloody hard work. No need to procrastinate, you just do the vast list of other things you're meant to be doing.

I would add that if any of you are unable to resist anything but temptation, then a temporary suspension of your account can be arranged with admin.

Or you could always install LeechBlock (for Firefox) or StayFocused (for Chrome). Both are extensions that will block websites that you list for certain time periods each day. (And before anyone asks, I'm not aware of anything similar for Safari)

Probably less drastic/time consuming for all than arranging a temp suspension of an account (which still doesnt stop lurking even if it can stop posting)

i start writing notes on my lectures.

lecture 1: i've written a page full of stuff
lecture 2: about half a page
lecture 3: couple of lines
lecture 4: i've written the heading and thats it.

rinse and repeat. sooner or later i manage to get through all my material.

I always end up doing the most ridiculous inane things.

A favourite is fixing all the ID3 tags in Itunes. 11 months of the year, I dont give a shit about how ordered my iTunes is. However, those two swotvacs... I need perfect iTunes cleaniness.

The only productive procrastination I do is walk to get a coffee or walk to the supermarket to buy food for dinner.

Procrastibation.

It's what happens when you're trying to study and Better Homes and Gardens comes on the tv

Plotting revenge
Drinking my favourite iced coffee
Meeting models (preferably from Britain)
Getting mad at things that shit me
Awkwardly flirting
Hanging out at rad night spots in Melbourne (eg my house)
Not planking (its ghey)
Smokin Kronic
Not torturing animals (don't **** with the RSPCA they legit)
and so forth.......

Video games and exercise were the two time-eaters for me. Although I was pretty good in terms of keeping my head down for study.
