Too slow to make changes
Wrong team selection
Players played in wrong position (Lynch)

Saints are good but they reallly shouldn't be smashing us like they are.

We need to play 2 ruckman, not one.

We need a midfield, loose the medicority- Rosa, Priddis both should go, Fletcher and Stenglein should retire and Masten and Ebert should be dropped.

Nicoski has to go aswel

Hahaha, and who do you propose to replace those guys?

worsfold is too reactive, never pro active

Could not agree more. Even when he is reactive, he is still slow to react.

Was OK when we had the best mid in the comp and teams had to adjust to OUR play, but now that we have to adjust to others, he just isn't doing the job well at all.

Bwahahaha, let's just get rid of the whole midfield. Many of who were brilliant last week.

What about Brett Jones, should we dump him after today? He's been one of our worst.

Worsfold is more of a motivator, manager type. The main problem i see is that we haven't had a midfield general type tactician... until now maybe. Hell one year we had Sumich in charge of midfield.

Yeah no problem when Cox, Judd, Cousins and Kerr are there.

Tony Shaw put it perfectly.

We are in for a long year unless we find a spark in the middle, we have too many players who can find cheap ball.

Who?

Rosa
Embley
Fletcher

It's time.

Wait

So it's the coaches job to turn extremely average players (Fletcher/Stenglein/Rosa/Priddis types) into key players despite the players not having 1/10 of the skill to pull it off ?

I don't know how many time I have to post it but the midfield is stuffed and it will generally take 4 years from first being drafted to being reliable and consistent inside midfielders (Swift/Masten/Ebert/Shuey/Selwood) there is no way to speed this up, you can't give them extra preseasons, can't give them any more game time and you can't kick the ball or lay the tackle for them.

Be patient, we have the remnants of a shit midfield and a couple of gems that show awesome signs every few weeks, it will take time to evolve into a genuine contender level midfield but has to go through a few stages first.

You can have the best game plan in the world but unless you have the players to carry it out you are going to get thumped every now and then.

Saints beat us by 112 in 04 at etihad, then we've won like 5 out of last 6 before this game..give us a couple of years we'll be back up in finals, a new coach wouldn't really go any quicker IMO. Saints'll finish top 2 I reckon

Bart Simpson: "He says there are no easy answer! I say, he's not looking hard enough!"

Rational sensible posting has no place on Bigfooty.

This pretty much sums it up...
Saints recruited to top up so they have experience while we have young players who dont have the confidence to back it up.

We will probably win 4 or 5 games this year but to lose like this is not good.

Saints are not that good.

The only knock ive got on the coaching maybe IMO that McKinley is a pure forward, but is for some reason pushing up to the wing.
With Lecras and Him we have two natural forwards if given half a chance will kick goals, they should be kept close to goals as much as possible.

This game to me was a midfield badly beaten or smashed or whatever, backline was pretty good under pressure and forwards did what they could with deplorable delivery into forward 50 most of the time.

They finished top four last year and have added intensity, tackling and teamwork to their game id say they quite possibly will be as good as last year maybe better!

Tell me, is it the coach's fault that players can't hit targets 20 metres away?
Is it the coach's fault players don't look where they kick?
Is it the coach's fault that players miss easy tackles?

If you say yes to any of these, then you're a moron.

All three of those things killed us today. It was mostly the players fault.

Exactly right, placebo.

I was expecting teams like Geelong, Saints, Hawks, Pies and co (well drilled sides) to get past our zone since they have superior skills and pressure at the minute, we should be able to win around 5-10 games this season.

Unless worsfold can stop time so he can run out onto the ground and show certain players what is the correct decision to make when they have the footy, then i dont think he could have done to much else today.

Exactly my thoughts.
