Thoughrs on Thoolen?

I don't know what to make of him. Is a Defender or a Foward?

What I seen of him in the VFL, is not good in fact he just look lost out and got no where near the ball. The only good thing I saw was against Box Hill when he playing as a CHF and drilled some good low passes to Dawes.

I am not sure if he is going to make it but He could be like N Brown and Just explode next year,

His upsides are he is very good below his knees and in TAC Cup he was very Accurate shot on Goal.

What do you think he will become?

What is he 18 years old, 195 cms. I don't think I would be making any statement yet about whether he will or won't make it. He's a big kid playing against men. Let's give him a couple of preseasons before we make a call on him. If he hasn't shown any real signs by mid next season then you'd be worried.

Look at Drew Petrie. He's the same height as Thoolen but obviously heavier with a more seasoned body. He's just realising his true potential now at 26 years old. I'm definitely not the first person to say......big blokes take time!

Umm......more than 6 months! He automatically gets 2 years so I would think the coaches would see what runs he's put on the board at the end of 2 years and at that point they would assess whether he's improved, and whether they think he's going to come on or not

I just watched his Draft Video, Man it's impressive.

Moves very well for a Big Man and Fantastic below his knee. Just hope next season he can improve and show it off in the VFL and Even the AFL

Patients my friend Dave. I really don't see how Toby can make it unless he grows and plays ruck. His speed off the mark is not good enough. If he grows and can play ruck he has huge potentail.

All that said that is just my opinion. Toby was a very bottom aged, late draft pick who no one expected to be drafted last year. It was a very week draft and we all knew Hine would get creative and this is what he come up with. I personally am not holding my breath on him making it, but he is a project player. I'd say even if he was to make it we wouldn't be for another 2 years, after that shaky ground.
