We Know we Went 2 Mids with 2 pick in the Top 5 with Daisy and Pendles and We got it Correct:)

I was wondering why we did not get a Highly Rated KPP in that Draft for Example we could of gone something like this:

Pick 2:Kenndey
Pick 5:Pendles
Knowing Pendles was going to be there at Pick 5

or

Pick 2:Pendles/Daisy
Pick 5:Clarke/Ryder

Then we got 2 Mids Stanley and Cook at 21 and 23, Could of Gone KPP There and The Players There could taken where:

Cleve Hughes
McKinley
Warnock
West

We went tall with our last Pick 37 with Anthony and He sure Worked out,

This is just for Thought and Discussion

Dave, you'd prefer to take Kennedy at 2 and miss out on Thomas altogether?

At the moment we are 4/5 from 2005 with only Iles not remaining on our list.

Daisy and Pendles are A-grade.

Cooky has come along well and was a part of our finals team.

Stanley we have high hopes for so hopefully he can repay the faith.

Overall, was an important draft for us in which spring-boarded our youth rebuild/focus.

The Draft was Fantastic but I was saying it was a Bit Suprising we did not grab a Highly Rated Tall

I'm happy with what we got. Looking at the 06 draft there was not a lot of midfield talent compared to the KP talent.

Fair call.

However, you'll notice that we had an abundance of talls on our list up until the end of 2006. That is when they all got chopped or traded and 2006 became our KPP draft.

Also in 2004 we took Rus and Trav.

Fair Enough and 2004 must of had an Effect with Cloke the Top 3 Young CHF in the League and a very Promising player in Rusling must of Thought then we did not need any.

Those we did have:
T Walker
B Hall
C Cloke
J Cloke
D Fanning

As Talls and Well Speaks for itself

Thomas is not A-grade. Far to inconsistent and goes missing alot.
Im happy with Pendlebury and Anthony.

I'm happy with what we got.

What else could we have got for the pick 23 we blew on Cook? Whatever anyone might say, he strikes me as a very ordinary player. The other picks I have no problem with, but surely no.23 could have been used on something taller and bulkier. I say it once more - Cook is a very ordinary player. I rate Toovey ahead of him.

Players after Cook:

Cleve Hughes
Wayde Mills
Garrick Ibbotson
Dylan Addison
Matt Riggio
Benjamin McKinley
Nick Lower
Trent West
Bernie Vince
Sam Gilbert
Matthew Spangher
Stephen Owen
Jake Edwards

Robert Warnock was even further down

I only did Cook's round up until our next pick.. McKinley or Ibbotson would have been nice, even Gilbert for CHB.. but not sure we would have went for them anyway considering what were were trying to address at the time.. Cook and Stanley were seen as the best inside mids around that mark

Cook's a spud.

Is he really an in and under type player?

In short no his not. I had him pinned as an outside running player early days. His certainly worked hard on his inside game and whilst not great he does do a lot of blocking work and stuff and is far less outside then I'd thought he would be.

As for not going tall Kennedy wasn't in our line of thinking. Pendles and Daisy are miles ahead of him in terms of class and we already had Cloke at CHF.

As for later on in the draft hindsight is a wonderful thing. Fact is verdict is still out on most of those players. From the players you listed there really isn't one that makes me go "how the hell did we miss that" Warnock is yet to be proven, is a fumbler and was questionable whether he'd ever have an AFL body. Cook and Stanley where both bottom aged picks IIRC.

I am confident with Stanley not so with Cook either way 4/5 is good going
