Thoughts On The Port Game

Re: Showdown -Good, Bad, Ugly

The GOOD: The Crows showing showing they can be courage personified; the Showdown was the topic of convo on every real AFL fan's lips Monday morning; we proved that it's not maximum rotations that wins the game.

The BAD: The injuries. That's about it, but without them the game would not have been the epic that it was.

The UGLY: After match talk being dominated by our supporters saying Port were dirty and both sets of supporters questioning umpiring decisions. All hits were found to be fair and the umpires are always going to pull a few out of their posteriors ... there were enough positives to talk about til the next Showdown! :)

Re: Showdown -Good, Bad, Ugly

The Good:
- Our inexperienced players having a good game when it counts; a full house, rivalry round, against a good opposition on the rebound.
- Griffin, despite having what could in many ways be considered a stinker, still managing to contribute to the win.
- (the obvious) Having an emotional, exciting, team-lifting win at home. These sort of wins are what good season's are built upon.

The Bad:
- The cost of the win. Great game but one wonders if we will be feeling the effects 2-3 weeks down the track.
- The number of AFC turnovers/injuries that were caused by high, soft, floating hospital kicks and handballs. Few apologies will need to be given at training this week.

The Ugly:
- The 50 metre penalty against Kane Cornes. Showed a complete lack of understanding of the game of football.
- The holding the man decision (and subsequent goal) to Travis Boack. One of the worst decisions of all time (and I don't usually criticise umpires).
- The period of time between Bassett going down and him moving his arm.

Thoughts- Brogan is a thug, should be banned for the season. He has proved he is a thug onfield and off field.

Thomas should be banned for the season, his tackling has ruined the career of one player already and nearly broke the neck of another.

Tissue mate?

Bit of classic hard style footy and most of you whinge about it. Bunch of sooks.

GET OVER IT!

Porps Is Hot Loz. Great work with your report:thumbsu:Look forward to reading more in the future. Its great to have young supporters like you on board. I bet you amaze the other kids at school with your football knowledge:thumbsu:

You call us sooks! At least we let you have a say on our board, no matter how stupid you make yourself and your club look. Cant say nothing on your board without being warned or runover by a type of car (if you get my drift)

That's a myth that old timers want to bring up.

In the old days in even the VFL you would only see two bumps like that in a game. Not the near double figures we witnessed on Sunday.

So what's the problem lads?

Ur not still crying about those big bad Port players?

:p

Aww bless yer cotton socks,
There there... everything will be allll-right!

(uhh dude, I think your team lost... you're not exactly in the best position to be making calls like that...)

An early look in at a priority pick, maybe they should try getting an inside mid, you know, the ones with courage who go in and get the hard ball. IMHO they look to have enough outside mids and battering rams (I appoligise to any incensed battering rams).

Port Power knew they didnt have the skills to go with the crows so they turned into a bunch of thugs and try and see if they could win that way........................but they still failed even with those vain attempts:rolleyes:

It seems that some Port fans would prefer to hurt a few Crows rather than win the game of footy and get the 4 points.

Can't wait til one of their's gets knocked out, the amount of crying will fill the Murray River.

In fact i would suggest that a lot of the original Port Magpies supporters could be well & truly classified as 1st class front-runners because the only reason they supported PAFC in the 1st place was that they were regularly winners.

agree 100%.

this is why I dislike the filth so much. 90% of their supporters are bandwaggoners, who no reason for supporting them other than they used to win a lot.

The bit that I find interesting, that none of these " hard " Port players actually hit any one that was facing them, or even had the ball.Edwards, Mckay, Vince, Porps, Jericho, Thompson were all hit either after they got rid of the ball, or who were running some meters from the ball.Bassett did have the ball, but again the tackle was from behind.

It takes very little " hardness " to hit a player in this manner. It does however take real courage to keep your head over the ball.
