Thursday night.

Some quick maths and you will see that the clearing of the $4.5m debt is quite achievable.

I'm sure the club will hold a couple more of events like this.

$3k Entry x 300 people = 900k x2 Events = $1.8m before the night has begun.

Small contributions from supporters and other corporate people will go a long way also.

Lets not forget the extra $500k we are getting by playing a game in Cairns this year that wasn't there last year.

I can see the club quite easily eradicating this debt by years end and is a great job by all involved. :thumbsu:

When Jim Stynes did his Demon Debt Demolition he said "WE only got one chance to do this, let's get it right" or something to that effect and he is right. Can't do a series of Gala night. It'll look gimmicky.

But they had two functions.

Their first in 2008 raised $2 million and the next in 2010 raised $1.15 million.

It didnt happen overnight for the Dees and it wont for us.

It took them over 2 years to "demolish" $5 million of debt so no need to drop our head because we didnt do it at one function!

The first ball hasn't been bounced for the season and we are over a third of the way to our goal as a club. RFC_Official has already stated that there will be tin rattlers at our games and such. I can't believe how pessimistic our supporters can be with some of the comments I have read on here re: us not hitting 4 million last night.

Sheesh it's a hell of a lot of money and will take time to get together. If you're all so concerned that we didn't make 4 million lastnight head to the website and voice your opinion via your cheque book!

/end rant

How could people be disappointed?
We made nearly 2.5 million in 1 night FFS, that's an outstanding effort, the bulldogs are aiming for 1 million this year for their debt demolition and we made 2.5 times that amount in 1 night.

Its been reported on the PRE forums that there is a huge donation still to come and it will go close to if not completely wiping out our debt. :D

Maybe this guy couldnt work out the electronic donation device lol

Money from last night

Just how much money did we bring in last night?
The web page has a with a total of just 2.3mil.
Is the club stuff the common man around or are they just not telling us the truth?

They have no reason to lie?

If the webpage is saying that's what the total is, then thats what the total is.

Close thread please.

Re: Money from last night

maybe it hadn't been updated in a while?

Re: Money from last night

$2.300M

$0.220M pre function from supporters.

Therefore
$2.080M during function

of which
$0.125M from players,
$0.200M from the board
$1.081M from one big group donation

therefore
$0.674M from other sources on the night.

With the anonymous stuff yet to be donated - see other thread.

Not bad all up.

Re: Money from last night

Just on last night, raising that much money was a great achievement but where is all the feel good news articles about the amount of money raised? I think I read one from the age.

Oh that's right feel good articles about Richmond dont sell papers, I forgot. :thumbsd::cool:

Well, to be fair, last night's event didn't finish until late, so writing an article, having it approved/editted and published ahead of deadlines might've been a big ask.

I would expect a write-up in tomorrow's papers

Not quite, there was $250k donated from board & players, $125k of which was from the players.
I also noticed Gary March still standing during the bidding process at the $25k mark

If true I hope they give the person a lifetime membership with guaranteed grand final tickets for life

My Numbers are directly from the article on the club website - maybe just "accounting" differences on what you saw on the night and how they have written it up? No biggy - the overall is still good.

The big group donation from a post here so that accuracy maybe????

Re: Money from last night

Maybe bidding is the wrong word. I think infamy is saying Marsh donated at least $25k publicly.

I love that the players all donated

What did the Dees raise from their gala night?

~$2 Million and then $1.15 at a function two years later which got them to the $5 million figure.
