With Jack Anthony out, it's time for Rusling to step up to the plate. It's been over a year since he injured his shoulder, surely it must be right by now?

Broken hand they say.

it's time for supporters as a whole to stop expecting rusling to become a solid afl footballer. if he plays regular games again, it'll be a bonus, not a given.

another 1-2 weeks for rusling
maybe dawes could come in,
or even bryan, as they have been playing bryan as a forward in the vfl

Dawes is only touching it in the warm up drills down at the VFL, can't see him doing much better at the top level either.

All we can really hope for with Rus is that he gets back and plays the rest of the season at VFL level. If he can do that and kicks some bags of 5 or 6 then we can start thinking about seeing him at AFL level.

The Rus won't come in until he has had at least 3 games and two bags in the VFL.

Be patient, it will be Rus-o'clock in the second half, make no mistake.

Would be great if true. He certainly would be an upgrade on Anthony, if fit and in form.

there is NO WAY that Rusling is an upgrade on JA if fit???

what planet have you been living on?? Sean Rusling is completely one dimensional and IS NOT the answer for Collingwood. Anthony is the far superior footballer who actually stays fit and plays games.

I am very sad for Rusling - but his body is not made for the rigours of the sport - this has been proved time and time again with all the injuries he keeps getting. we cannot ever rely on him - if we do we are totally stuffed.

No chance Rusling would be considered even if he was ready to play

Rocca will come in, or failing that Reid may come in so they can swing N Brown forward.

Bryan has also been kicking goals in the VFL so he should come in at the expense of L Brown and that also gives us the chance to play Fraser forward, an opportunity we dont have when we play with only one ruckman.

Cloke needs to lift, Medhurst needs to play, Macaffer gets a chance to shine, and Davis may need to play nearer goals.

I don't think we need to play a KPF foward to replace Anthony. If we feel the need to then I would go for Reid. With either Cloke playing FF with Reid lead up CHF / Wing role. Alternatively Reid in the backline with N Brown foward.

trained today from what ive been told

That's good news in itself, if he is even back at training.

Means in the next few weeks, we will get both McCarthy and Rusling back in senior contention, along with Didak and Ben Johnson is only 3-4 weeks away now.

We just have to pray that Rusling stays fit, hope is the only option with him.

He wont play seniors for 3-4 more weeks at least, although if he made a comeback at VFL level and fired straight off, MM might be tempted.

I doubt if we will see Rus in the seniors this year. It's not great news to hear he's got another shoulder injury. The club might have to cut him at the end of the year and relist him as a rookie (if possible, not sure of the rules on age for rookies). This way he wouldn't take up a spot on the seniors list and would only come in if fit and one of our forwards was out with a long term injury.

report from the collingwood turtle on rusling from todays training session
Rusling marked and contested v a number of players and competed in all the bumping & tackling drills with no problems. Looks ripping fit.

Rus completed the whole session and looked uninhibited. Happy days, he still exists :-)

he will play in the the seniors this year

You've got to be kidding me?

JA is twice the player Rusling ever was and ever will be.
Straight line pace alone just doesn't cut it at AFL level.
