Interesting that EQ is now limiting the allegations to:
Adelaide agreed in writing to trade the then 43-game player to the club of his choice for a minimum second-round choice at the end of his next contract, and underwrote $200,000 worth of third-party payments.

No recanting of previous claims though.

I was another. Ask cmndstab. We were debating the issue.

I've always been a huge Tippett fan. These past few weeks have been very disappointing to say the least :(

I would have been horrified if we had traded Tippett for pick 8 last year, yet in retrospect it would have been the correct thing to do.

$5.5 million, 6 year deal = pick 23 plus Jesse White.

draft tampering much?

Let us assume the story on the salary is correct for arguments sake.

The Swans made the offer dollar wise.

Adelaide by its nefarious dealings put the value of the trade on his head. You. Nobody else.

You own it. Wear it. Stop trying to blame everyone else for your clubs gross incompetence at best and at worst flagrant cheating and lies. It really is quite boring reading (endlessly) about how Tippett should be bashed (really - I mean REALLY?), he has no friends, it is all the fault of everyone else fault - the AFL are cheats, Sydney are cheats, Judd is a cheat, Melbourne lost some games, Carlton suck, Brisbane did this once, Kurt's father wants it all for his son (what a revelation) ..........the list is endless.

Harden up princesses but more importantly grow up. You are whining like 5 year olds.

You did very bad things. Very bad. Own them. Or shut up.

all my post did was point out the absurdity of the trade YOUR CLUB offered. that's all.

you're being a little sensitive, princess.

Definition of a troll: someone who posts inflammatory messages with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response.

Channel 9 reported tonight that Adelaide are hoping to settle the matter with the AFL before the scheduled November 30 hearing.

They said there is precedent for this, although it will be difficult to achieve given the number of charges and individuals involved.

My take on this is that Rowey's statements yesterday that the Crows can refute the charges relating to 3rd party payments with signed affidavits from the 3rd parties that they were independent of the Crows is more than likely correct.

Also it suggests that perhaps the tampering with the draft charge might not be as serious as first thought given that it was for a minimum pick not a fixed one.

Obviously Adelaide must feel that they are able to at least minimise if not dispel some of the charges to think that there is some chance of a negotiated penalty. If that did actually happen then there's no doubt that the penalty is likely to be less than if there was a hearing, because the AFL know that there would be no appeal against it.

Interesting times ahead.

Not sure how accurate Rowey was yesterday so by extension, if that's what Channel 9 are basing their report on I wouldn't put much credence into it.

My response to this is I truly, absolutely hope Tippett becomes a Swan. So your Club may pay a fortune for doubtful return. So your Club may reap the amazing benefits of having a selfish, greedy player set amongst your strong culture, permeating it's stench like a cancer throughout. So that your premiership players will be thrilled to play along side a bloke that didn't win a premiership with them, but earning twice as much as most of them. Good luck with all that.

This is entirely consistent with how Counsel would approach this in a court scenario. Get as much agreed as possible so that a statement of agreed facts can be tendered. Agree a penalty with the Afl QC who, at the hearing, will recommend to the commission the agreed penalty.

Makes for a swift, clean hearing.

The fact it has been reduced to a day does indicate the parties are on track to dispose of it orderly.

Looks like Sydney just sold their soul.

So how does the PSD work. My understanding is that with the PSD you can nominate the length of contract (which you can't in the national draft). But - can you also be specific about the $$ value? ie. $700,000 in first, $900,000 in second etc?

Just found this:

SECTION B (this section to be completed by Category 1 players only)
If selected at the Draft, I shall accept employment with the AFL Club selecting me and shall enter into a contract with that Club for the period of at least two (2)
years and for the following remuneration:
term: .............................(years) concluding october 31, 20................................................
REMuNERATION: (please attach additional documentation if space provided is not sufficient)
Year 1:
Year 2:
(if further years, specify remuneration sought for each year)
I shall advise the AFL immediately in writing should any Club selecting me at the Draft selection Meeting purport to or does any act or thing which would cause
or which may have the effect of causing me to receive any lesser payments than those set out in section B of this nomination form.
notE: Remuneration for the purposes of this nomination form shall comprise a monetary amount for each year and the player shall not specify any other benefits or
other non-financial conditions of employment.

So if Kurt now comes and completes his contract EXACTLY as Sydney has offered, how is that not draft tampering?

The rules allow him to specify his salary. Its only tampering if he then did something like send letters to other club saying even if you pay my nominated salary I wont play for you.

Its not draft tampering because any club can take him on those terms. (Go GWS)

Yes, but can any other (would any other) pay those ridiculous amounts to him? By announcing this offer publicly, they effectively blow any other club out of the water. Is that not manipulating the system?

By putting in the form he's declaring it publicly though. There's no way around it.

It's not tampering, we're within our rights to re-draft him.

So do you think she is under or overstated the contract? I'm presuming you think she's overstated, then come on down GWS.

If she is correct, I'd rather GWS take him. I'd be surprised, and disappointed, if we're offering more than 800K over 4 years. He could potentially live up to that price tag, but he hasn't so far.

Yes - but it's a manipulation that the AFL have created space for and allowed in the past.

Like rewarding a team for losing with top draft picks :-)

He has to nominate his terms before the draft. I would say that he has worked out his terms with sydney and he has advised the AFL. Agian as has been happening all along, somehow meraciously the age has been able to get this information. Sydney would not of wanted the offer made public. I would suggest from the AFC experience that you should look at the AFL

Before this saga blew up, I was hoping we were not going to retain him on the rumoured $800k a year.

IMO that is biggest (perhaps only) win in this entire thing. We aint paying him.

I know HE has to make his salary desires known, but now if he writes in the Sydney offer word for word, how is that not manipulation? AND is the figure averaged over the 4 years? Or is it taken as requested yearly on the offer?

Sorry to be so obtuse... I'm just trying to get my head around it.
