You're right DJ.

After dominating the media with some at times outrageous but always sensational claims of the myriad of offences that The crows had allegedly committed, generally stated as if fact, the Age has gone significantly quiet on any detailed allegations.

I'm thinking that the posse of legal eagles we have working for us may have spoken to both the AFL and the Age about our concerns whether the AFL was prejudicing the enquiry by the release of what should be confidential details to the Age, or alternatively threatened the Age with legal action if mistruths continued to be published as fact.

Certainly there is a major contrast in behaviour by the Age in recent times compared to a couple of weeks back.

Yeah.....I hope you are right re the legal eagles and someone has spoken to shut up the leaks. A bit late though as the media labelled cheats and rorters that is the AFC, has been poisoned to the population of Australia. Its gonna be interesting to see what 'factual' reporting comes out from Friday pm and whether the AFL imposes a decree of confidentiality, binding on all parties, if submissions and deliberations extend into next week.

I can't believe we offered up draft picks without knowing what the agreed penalty will be.
if we knew at minimum, we were guilty of X, and X equals 1 x first and 2nd round exclusion from a draft, then it was a good choice, especially if we thought, A) we want to end the sanctions as early as possible and B) we had a good enough draft strategy to get whet we wanted anyway then we haven't done too bad. At worst next year we select Mature Aged blokes to cover early picks.

Seriously, that dude for CEO
Funny.. it's the first time I've ever seen anyone write anything nice about Colin Young on BigFooty, particularly the Adelaide Board. This is the player manager who is infamous for conducting his player salary negotiations through the media, creating fake offers from other clubs in order to drive his players' salaries up. The guy is one of the lowest scum sucking bottom feeders.. yet because he makes one statement, vigorously defending one of our players, he's now someone we want for CEO.

I wouldn't want to see the club employ him as a janitor, far less CEO. Sorry, but one swallow does not make a summer. Colin Young is still close to being the lowest form of life on earth as far as I'm concerned.

To be fair, all I knew him as was the guy making a strong statement.

It was also rather obviously a jocular comment which could be easily interpreted by use of the colloquialism and its brevity.

So, South Australians have a culture of salary cap rorting.:p As silly as it is to connect the two I'm sure some people will. Not the best timing.

The AFL last week rejected a request by Tippett for a special convening of the game's grievance tribunal where he hoped to overturn a league ruling preventing Adelaide from delisting him.

It would have allowed the Swans to pick him up as a delisted free agent.
I guess that settles the previous discussion.

Also, love the new jumper guys :thumbsu: I see some don't like it but that's just natural fear of change. Freo fans thought the sky was falling but they came around pretty quick.

Call me a bastard if you like but I have to say the best scenario at the end of this shemozzle would be if..

1. GWS get Tippett (big)
2. Because Sydney doesn't get Tippett (big) they pass on Tippett (small).
3. Tippett (old) cracks the shits and has breakdown.
4. Tippett (big) refuses to play for GWS and retires.

That would be absolutely wonderful...stuff that family.

Oh. So you weren't actually being serious. I should probably have guessed.
I am absolutely being serious.

The whole club knew about the go home for a second rounder thing. Hence us guarding against it.

Fair enough, the 3rd party payments were kept on the downlow.

Channel 7 reported tonight that Phil Harper will have three character references to assist his case on Friday. Chanel 7 claimed that Harper is keen not to be the fall guy for the Tippett deal.

If true, the CEO and Footy Manager relationship at the club can't be good at the moment.

This is one reason why the club and the employees all have their own legal counsel. They all have different self-interests and self-preservation at stake.

Harper is in an unenviable position because he was the heir apparent to Reid's job and would have probably known what was going on at the time - or at worst, immediately after Reid left. It sort of leaves Harper as the custodian of the wrong-doing, particularly if Trigg maintains the line that he rescinded the agreement re virtual open clearance once he found out - or was it that Harper was instructed by Trigg to do that, and if so,did he do it???

Chapman has maintained all along that he and the Board only found out about this when Trigg came back from Paris.

If there is nothing to disprove this, then Trigg and Harper are either left pointing at each other as the culprit, or one of them has been set up as the fall guy to take the rap.

Apparently Harper has lost 6 kgs through worry and Trigg is starting to look very gaunt and harrassed. However the Chairman has publicly supported Trigg - and we know what that means when they come out and say that the coach has their full support!

It'll be interesting to see who, if any, of them is left standing when the dust finally clears after Friday.

He doesn't want to take the fall for Reid. Nothing to do with Trigg.

Too bloody right. He can't feed his family or career ambitions with a pat on the back & good wishes from Trigg for taking the hit

Whatever mistakes he's made, they originate with the crappy hand he got dealt

I've actually been wondering about the CEO & Coach relationship

If the mail is true it was Sando that escalated the matter to Chapman as he was dead set against taking White whereas Triggy was prepared to push the deal through on the basis that Sydney covered White's salary

Again if true it's not healthy when the CEO's actions is in direct conflict with the Football department

I also noticed when Chapman said during the week that Triggy had the support of the Chairman, Sponsors and players that there was also no reference in his statement to the Coach or Football Dept

This is incorrect. We didn't want White period, Sydney weren't going to do the deal without him. Trigg wasn't pushing deal through - he thought Sydney (Ireland) were being arseholes over something he thought no longer existed. He wanted to go to AFL to get clarification on whether Tippetts could force our hand.

Has Triggy told you that? And if that's the case we didn't come clean to be good semaritans, we came clean to try and protect us from the dodgy deal and ever since we've been spinning it.
