This pretty much nails it.Find the opinions of some on here really strange. I remember in 2013/14 how blatantly obvious it was that the Dogs needed a forward if they were ever to get anywhere with this list. They weren't playing that well but it was obvious there was some talent there, and they didn't want another situation like from 2008-2010 where they probably would have been in a grand final if there forward line had more to it. So they get Boyd who plenty suggested they should get, and then many blasted them for the past 2 years for doing so. Yes, he might not ever play like a million dollar guy like Buddy, but they had to make a move like that. Imagine them Saturday with only Stringer and Cordy down there as targets.
If we played it safe we'd probably end up like the Bulldogs of 2008-10, a threat but realistically the 3rd or 4th best side in each of those years.
We needed to take a massive risk because we have no other competitive advantage compared to most sides - no Cola, no home ground advantage, no extra millions pumped into our football department.
The signs were there as he finished the season and started the finals series, he has been getting tot he right spots, covering more ground and timing his attempts very well over the past 1-2 months it was just the final execution that was lacking. We thought it would take another pre-season or his game to come together.
