Find the opinions of some on here really strange. I remember in 2013/14 how blatantly obvious it was that the Dogs needed a forward if they were ever to get anywhere with this list. They weren't playing that well but it was obvious there was some talent there, and they didn't want another situation like from 2008-2010 where they probably would have been in a grand final if there forward line had more to it. So they get Boyd who plenty suggested they should get, and then many blasted them for the past 2 years for doing so. Yes, he might not ever play like a million dollar guy like Buddy, but they had to make a move like that. Imagine them Saturday with only Stringer and Cordy down there as targets.
This pretty much nails it.

If we played it safe we'd probably end up like the Bulldogs of 2008-10, a threat but realistically the 3rd or 4th best side in each of those years.
We needed to take a massive risk because we have no other competitive advantage compared to most sides - no Cola, no home ground advantage, no extra millions pumped into our football department.

The signs were there as he finished the season and started the finals series, he has been getting tot he right spots, covering more ground and timing his attempts very well over the past 1-2 months it was just the final execution that was lacking. We thought it would take another pre-season or his game to come together.

I still rate Hogan as the better prospect (among a few others) but one thing Boyd has that Hogan doesn't is that penetration on his kick. He's a legit threat from 60m, Hogan struggles to kick 45m.

Big forwards take time, he's a stud.
Hogan spits the dummy far to much. Boyd for all the negative publicity he has got just has stuck to what Bevo has asked and not complained.

Big game yesterday, you'd think that could be something that finally gets him going. Seemed down a bit on confidence at the Bulldogs because I remember him in his limited time at GWS looking a bit more confident, even if he didn't do a lot. Clearly has strong hands as seen yesterday, just needs to get to more contests and read the play better, which he did yesterday.
I wonder how confident any on here would be at 19-20 with media "experts" scrutinizing every move you make, daily articles declaring your career a bust, morons on here and social media taking every opportunity to stick the boots in even making up tripe about your teammates and coaches hating you and you being a terrible person.
Has been under intense pressure when most of us were/are ****ing around at uni/apprenticeships getting pissed every weekend in anonymity. Stuck it right up every dickhead.

When haters are hating, million dollar premiership star Tom Boyd doesn't care...

Hogan's ceiling is higher than any other young KPF in the competition though. I hope we get to see it.

not enough people willing to acknowledge that the club took a big risk and that we'd find out in the fullness of time what the result would be.

Well no Tom Boyd, no dogs flag. So those that raced to the genius line. Stick your hand up and learn the value of having a considered opinion

Yes, I said *closer*! Move as close as you can, and engage those medium forwards.
At that close range we won't last long against Stringer and Dickson!
We'll last longer than we will against that Tom Boyd!

Tom Boyd goes long.... How will it bounce?.....the stadium holds its breath....it's a goal! And the western suburbs erupt!!!

Will be the defining commentary moment of the final.

I've got a bet with a mate that the Dees will finish higher than Collingwood in 2017...dont let me down now.
Jeez I'd take a piece of that. A lot to like about the Dees for 2017

Lettuce be reality here, Boyd beat Naismith who is probably on 5 db swannie hand shandies per year.

When Boyd comes up against proper beast ruckmen like Gawn and Hickey he will be found wanting.
Gawn and Hickey??? LOL, one things for sure he wont have to worry about that ever happening on Grand Final day!!

Gawn and hickey have been found wanting.....

...Tom Boyd's premiership medal

22 and under - although even if Jeremy Cameron was a year younger I'd still rate Hogan higher on potential.

Fair enough - I was more thinking Tom Lynch - who i rate as the third best key forward in the game

Given the choice tomorrow out of Lynch, Boyd, Cameron, Hogan et al - I'd take Lynch

He's only 22 as well?

I stand corrected. Lynch is amazing.

Was your mate on the piss at the time? Just call him to collect now :D
No just an over-confident pies fan with a lot of dumb money.

He also made a side bet with me that the Dogs wouldn't make top 4 in 2017...That one isn't looking too flash for him right now either.
