I don't really care what morons say on the Internet. I care about the truth. The truth is we haven't been shit enough (even under McCartney) to have access to a high pick key forward barring maybe Peter Wright (who looks more like a developing ruck). So we overpaid for one. Liked our balls in doing it and it hasn't really hurt our ability to pay our players or get in new players. So overall am quite happy and excited.

I say Boyd is trash now, and you must concede that given some of the shockers he has played, you can say the same about Paddy and fair enough but there is every reason to think both could be more then serviceable players down the track if not outright superstars but given frankly that since 2000 only Riewoldt, Hodge and Goddard have become superstars from Pick 1 it is hard to say either of our number 1s will become the best player in the game or even get close.

I just think with your roaming mobile forwards that can play all over the field Tom Boyd may get overlooked often. Sure Redpath and Dickson may not be top quality but they are more then serviceable already and have heard Dicksons accuracy is dead eye though may have heard the commentators talking about someone else.

The league needs all teams great, and it would be nice if we could both get number 2 in the bank sometime before both of us pass on or at least are young enough to remember it

Dickson is a small forward and was the most accurate forward in the AFL last year (kicked 50 goals last year) and Redpath is not great, although he is playing pretty well at the moment. If he plays well enough there's plenty of space for him.
Boyd is actually pretty athletic runs 20m in just over 3 seconds. And has a very good vertical. He's just very unfit so can't take advantage of it. That's why he's playing ruck to build it. Needs at least another preseason.

Even then I can't predict the future but it will be a better gauge on his ability.

As for premierships I'm just enjoying the ride. Our recruiters have given us a great base and Bev can coach so we'll see.

In hindsight was not the deepest draft really so he was one of few to pick. Though most missed Patrick Cripps it must be said also. Though you did well with Marcus but definitely not a Hodge-Ball-Judd kind of draft by any stretch.
