He did very well to ruck the whole game and not let mummy be a dominant force.
If you can't see how important that was you're a hater.

Midfielder? He might never be that KPF but once he gets his full footy engine at 23 he's going to be the first 200cm ruck/midfielder in footy judging by how Bev plays him. And he's going to be a very good player.
How'd did I know it'd be mainly prominent saints fans in here being negative?![]()
Exactly. Played his role, did his part, Mumford didn't have a huge impact, Boyd had a hand in thatIts a bit bizarre isn't it?
Tom was great last night. Looked out on his feet in the third quarter but battled on and was a huge factor in GWS not blowing the game wide open after they got a couple of goals up. Worth a million dollars? Maybe not, but if they win next week, who really cares?
The people who can't see how important he's been in the finals, and last night, are either idiots, or purely just want to see him fail.
"Oh, but he hasn't kicked any goals". Probably cause he's played a **** ton in the ruck. Even more when Roughy went down.
"Oh, but he's so lazy and doesn't go for the hardball". Are you ******* high? He's regularly on the bottom of packs tapping the ball out or giving quick hands.
He's playing some good footy at the moment. **** anyone that is giving him shit for not kicking 6 a game.
Midfielder?
Really?
He's useless when the ball is on the ground.

Mumford had very little impact on the game...That's bullshit. No offence intended but you must be looking at it through red, white and blue glasses. To be fair, he tried hard and acquitted himself just ok against Mumford. It's a tough ask for him, but he only had two kicks for the game. One mark. 20 odd hit outs. Two tackles ... Mumford beat him in every part of the field. So he should though - Mummy is a much better player than Boyd.
I have no vested interest in Tom Boyd in succeeding or failing. But when you are being objective he is a serviceable bit part ruckman at best, and as a forward he is barely above a decoy. The guy doesn't average a goal per game! If Redpath was available, he would surely be favoured over Boyd? Unfortunately he ain't so Boyd is out there but it is being incredibly generous to say that based upon his output, he is playing "good footy at the moment"
I hope that he turns things around next week and plays a blinder and gets the Dogs a flag. Everything that we have seen so far points to him not being capable of doing that though
Or maybe some people just understand the game. For a guy on his sort of money that was recruited mostly as a KPF you would expect him to kick at least one goal in 3 finals, especially when the Dogs have had a dominant midfield.
If you're satisfied with his output in the last 3 finals you're very easily pleased.
Ruck/mid??!He rucked on his own against Mumford for 3/4s, that's what he did. And while he may not have won the stats he nullified his influence. He kept going even though he had to pretty much be helped off to the interchange bench by the end.
We wouldn't be in the GF without him. He did the job he was meant to do. That's why our team is in the final and yours isn't - our coach gives his players specific jobs and when everyone does them to the best of their ability we win.

He certainly has some weaknesses in his game as expected but his ground ball work in the finals has been nothing short of excellent.Midfielder?

Shouldn't you be complaining about umpiring somewhere?
This is just turning into blind hatred now. It's starting to just look like bitters losers on a forum are jealous of a kids earnings.
I've thought all season that Mumford is the Giants most important player - it's a view that is also held by quite a few commentators.
And Boyd beat him cold last night. Other than Smith, Dahlhaus and maybe Wood, Boyd was the most important guy on the field, who had one of the greatest impacts. Not only was Mumford completely negated from having an impact, Boyd was excellent around the stoppages.
