Tbh maybe we see TDK as a longer term 2nd ruck that offers versatility to pair with Conway, who is very much an old-school number 1 ruck (should he fulfil his potential)?

He really has shown nothing as a 2nd ruck though. Doesn't have the flexibility to play in other positions that a 2nd ruck needs

Is he really any better than esava at geelong? Has a pretty leap and takes a pretty mark every few games but is completely invisible otherwise

The reality is that TDK cannot get a game at Carlton ahead of Marc Pittonet or Jack Silvagni. Just let that sink in for a moment.

This isn't reality at all.
TDK played 4 games this year with Pittonet. He's only played 1 game in the 2s this year.

Isn't that the point of trade ? Some clubs see a huge potential and are willing to offer more than what appears to be worth.
Others clubs not so much.

He's out of contract, in his 6th season and been dropped by a middling team. He's shown glimpses but has he ever been in the top 5 players in a game? I can't think of one. After 46 games you would want a few standout performances.

The high paid players bring the average up so average wage would make him about the 15th highest paid player on a club's list.

Should Geelong be paying him more than Atkins, Blicavs, Cameron, Close, Dangerfield, SDK, Duncan, C Guthrie, J Henry, Holmes, Kolodjasnij, Smith, Stanley, Stengle, Stewart or Tuohy? I would say definitely not! That's 16 players already and misses a bunch of other better current players than TDK.

Fort wasn't picked in his last year at Geelong even when Stanley was out. There's no way we would go into a season trying to content l contend with just him and an ultra young and raw Conway. We were always going to need another option when Stanley finished up.

No reasonable manager would let an in demand player like TDK sign a long term deal on 450k a season.
