There is some very good people out there who watch the under 18 comp who would have a much better idea than i would about talented kids, could someone do a assesment on how these kids are rated?:)

I'll give you my top 20. Opinions will differ, and this is just my opinion. I'll go on current ladder positions of the top 8.

1: Carlton - Matt Kruezer VIC Ruck/Forward
2: Richmond - Trent Cotchin VIC Midfielder
3: Carlton - Cale Morton VIC Mid/HBF
4: Melbourne - Alex Rance WA Key Defender
5: Bulldogs - Lachlan Henderson VIC Key Forward
6: Essendon - Rhys Palmer WA Midfielder
7: Fremantle - Chris Masten WA Midfielder
8: Brisbane - Tayte Pears WA Key Defender
9: St. Kilda - Ben McEvoy VIC Ruck/Forward
10: Adelaide - Brad Ebert SA Midfielder
11: Sydney - Dave Gourdis WA Key Forward
12: Collingwood - Scott Selwood VIC Mid/HBF
13: Hawthorn - Tom Collier TAS Key Defender
14: Kangaroos - Steve Gaertner VIC Key Forward
15: West Coast - David Myers WA Defender
16: Geelong - Pat Veszpremi VIC Midfielder
17: Richmond - Cyril Rioli NT Mid/Forward
18: Richmond - Tom Bellchambers TAS Ruckman
19: Carlton - Jack Grimes VIC Midfielder
20: Melbourne - Adam Maric VIC Forward

I'd swap some of the KPPs you have there in the top 10. McEvoy to Melbourne, Henderson to the Bulldogs, Rance to the Saints or Lions. Just IMHO.

Scott isn't as good as Joel by some distance by all reports. I'd prefer Grimes/Veszpremi/Otten at this stage.

I can see where you're coming from.

The way I went with it is that Melbourne would either take Rance or McEvoy. I chose Rance due to the fact I think they will signal out a genuine full-back to develop and be happy with that at 4, but if that wern't to happen I believe they would definately go the ruck/forward option. If McEvoy doesn't go to the Dees, I don't think he will be snapped up until the Saints come into the draft. Maybe Essendon will look at him. And with Rance, if he doesn't go at 4, he will slide a little due to needs of the next 3-4 clubs.

I rate Henderson top 5 along with others, but some people don't. The Dogs will be keen on him as he is the best genuine tall forward in the draft IMO.

This draft is alot different to previous, and certain players could either jump the list, or slide. I think this draft will be done on need.

It's not "some distance", he's just not quite as good - If he was as good, he'd probably be a decent chance to go #1 this year.

Definitely will be in the mix at our first pick.

Theres a lot of well known surnames there.

I would love by some freak act of nature for masten to slip to us, with the likliness of haseby to go ever increasing i doubt he will get past freo

Freo would likely take one of the WA boys in Masten or Palmer. I tend to think Palmer's efforts in the WAFL will see him climb a little before the draft. He's doing well against men.

Although we need a ruckman and an inside midfielder, it is absolutely no given that this is the way they will go.

If players like Pears and Collier were available at our first pick, which is very possible, I don't think you could rule them out.

We have some good KP talent, pick 10 was spent on a young full-back last year, and we have Anthony to develop aswell as Harry O holding down the position well at times, but does anybody else think the Pies may look to really sure up CHB for the next 10 years by selecting one of these 2. As much as I want a midfielder or a ruckman a spine of;

N Brown
T Collier
S Pendlebury
T Cloke
B Reid/C Dawes

Looks pretty good if they all turn out.

I guess it depends on what the pies think they can get out of Stanley, Cook, Wellingham, Clarke etc. But I would not be surprised if they took an absolute CHB type player.

Do you think Collier is a CHB prospect?

I would have thought 3rd tall/rebounding defender.

Hine has shown that he won't take an inside mid, despite the need, if he doesn't rate the mids available at his pick. So there certainly is a chance we won't take one first round.

I see him as a stopper that you would have playing on a CHF, but can then become very important when attacking. Sort of like Matt Scarlett, but a bit up the ground.

I like that philosophy.
Same. It does give me further grief though that Joel Selwood didn't slide on pick further.
