I've thought about it and I hope that we don't get Crameri
He'll be one of our highest played players.
He's not that good, and will be worse when he take the best defender.
We're giving up a very good pick for him.

What I think is most likely, so not including Patton.

Pick 4: Scharenberg
Pick 22: Crameri
(Not going to do the next few picks as I don't have any idea who we will take)

Talia------Roughead----Goodes
Higgins----Morris------Johannisen
Murphy----Griffen-----Cooney
Grant------Crameri----Dickson
Dahlhaus---Jones-------Gia
Minson------Libba-------Boyd

Wallis--Stevens--Picken--Macrae

Hunter, Stringer, Hrovat, Scharenberg, Campbell, Wood, Smith, Williams, Tutt, Young should all play games too.

Not bad, for if we could get a team like that out most weeks I'd back us to finish in the 8-11 range.
It'd be nice for Sharenberg to drop to pick 4 (would really help us out). I'd have Campbell playing FF and pinch hitting in the ruck. Gia the super sub, and don't know whether Higgins will ever be fit. Something like this I see as being our best side come 2014:

Talia--------Roughead---Goodes
Murphy------Morris------Johannisen
Stevens-----Griffen------Cooney
Grant--------Jones------Crameri
Dahlhaus----Campbell----Dickson
Minson------Libba-------Boyd

Wallis-------Higgins-----Macrae Sub= Gia

Thing is I'd have another quick small in the FP instead of Dickson to reek havoc with Dahlhaus. Not Tutt as he doesn't influence the game as much, Maybe we'll find one in the draft?

anyone have a top 5 or so of mature age guys they like the look of?

Will he though? Crameri is very, very fast. I have trouble thinking of a #1 key defender that could go with him.

If as suggested that there may be a trade of 4 and 22 + wood for Patton and 11 , who would be available at 11 that then fits one of our needs, either outside midfielder, hbf with exquisite skills , or another area of focus

I really doubt that that trade will happen personally, however if it does there is likely to be plenty at pick 11. Kade Kolodjashnij, Darcy Gardiner, Lewis Taylor, Marcus Bontempelli and Nathan Freeman are all a chance.

I'm not a big fan of the Patton deal simply because I see Wood as more than just a depth player.
It does make sense though, providing Patton is put through a very thorough physical. The knee reco doesn't bother me so much, but the jumpers knee could be a serious problem.

If that did happen, what could the Dogs offer for Crameri? Not much really.

Seems like it would be either or.
I wonder who they want more. Crameri or Patton?

What is it about the particulars of the trade that irk you Dannn?
I just fail to see what's in it for GWS.

At pick 11 they would likely pick up Darcy Gardiner, OR use it in a trade for somebody like Bellchambers. Both would help them and fill holes. Conversely, pick 22 would likely get them similar midfielders to what they already have.

Easton Wood is a solid player, but apart from being mature bodied and a good leader what exactly does he offer them? He shanks a lot of kicks and this is for a team that has trouble hitting targets. They also have a few players who could play on a HBF.

I would certainly accept that trade if it was offered, but I don't think it would be.

Geez would do that in a heartbeat, would be a great outcome for us, they would have to really really like Wood for that to happen though. There would be heaps of options available at 11 (or 9) that would suit us.

It is a terrible deal 4,22 and Wood
for Patton and 11
It is effectively pick 4 plus for Patton - his had 6 knee reconstructions for heavens sake, he has the turning circle of Minson
I would rather the Crameri deal
He's had six knee reconstructions...really?

I see your point but if they are getting Boyd and franklin he is surplus to requirements
I think they would jump at a straight 4 swap

Yeah, so do I. I'm just talking about the other trade that was mentioned, which I think is unrealistic. Then again, I thought taking O'Rourke and Plowman at 2 and 3 was very, very dumb, so it's clear that Sos and I are pretty far apart in what we consider to be good deals.

From a reliable source I heard that the only thing stopping it happen is the club is naturaly worried about his jumpers knee. The trade is 20% going to happen 80% against at this stage. y

I am a bit concerned that for a bloke who hasn't played any footy we're relying on him to man the fort from Day 1.

Whilst I'm excited about the prospect of getting a bloody KPF finally, I still feel like our biggest need is silk around the ball. Not at all convinced we have enough of it. Next year i'm expecting another Top 10 pick so we'd literally grab one of the best Top 3 KPF on offer with GWS/Melb not needing one.

Pick 4 could be Kelly or Sharenbergers.. Both would be great additions to the team. It is perhaps a bigger risk to go to the draft if we nab Crameri also.

No doubt I am reading too much into it
But GWS may have asked for pick four and we have balked at it
So they have come up with this wood 22 for 11
Wood alone does not justify an upgrade of from 22 to 11

Aha the rumour period gets bigger every year
