Some bloke said that Sam Darley was doing laps with Crameri, Campbell, Prudden and Pearce
PRUDDEN! HE LIVES!

He's already training with us? He could be the Tom Young deal this year.

Darley is a decent player, nothing too special but would add to our list.

If that's true about Crameri already using our facilities then I'm very confident that it will be PSD for him. Which is great.

Then try pick 22 for Docherty, if he still picks Carlton then go to the draft. Win/win.
Why does it mean he is going through the PSD??

Yeah I'm not sure who I was thinking of but it's not Darley.

I've seen him a few times but he played in the NEAFL for most of the year (and wasn't great). He's a half back flanker with a pretty decent kick, good vision and does take the game on and run into space. He's not overly fast but is alright.

For a very late pick I'd be happy to pick him up.

Sounds like a much cheaper option than Docherty that is for sure.
Could be a gem. I do like the sound of him. From what you guys have posted about him.
Was he a high draft pick by GWS at one stage? The name rings a bell

Why though? We not offering Brisbane garbage. In fact, we're offering Brisbane what they asked for as a minimum
I'm talking about Crameri.

From Tazwegian in the GWS players board:

#13 - Sam Darley
Sam+Darley+wRRW_PCWD6fm.jpg
Height: 183cm
Weight: 80kg
D/O/B: 15/2/1993
Position: Defender
Debut: Round 8
Recruited: Hobart, Tas.
A solid, but unspectacular, debut season for Ninja Boy
A highly touted draft prospect in his junior days in Tasmania, Darley was one of the 17 year old preselections taken by GWS in 2010. His selection came off the back of an excellent under 18s champs where he took out the Harrison-Hunter medal as the division 2's best player, and was named in the under 18s All Australian team.
Darley could feel slightly unlucky to have to wait until round eight to make his debut for the Giants. However, he went on to play nine of the last fourteen games to round out a good debut season. His debut game against Brisbane in round eight was very solid, earning him nineteen touches and five rebound fifties at an efficiency of 89%. This game typified Darley's ability as a solid defender who could use his sound foot skills to bring the ball effectively out of the Giant's defensive fifty. Darley would go on to average 3.4 rebound fifties per game in 2012, the second highest out of all players eligible for the rising star, and 14.2 possessions for the season. Darley played most of his football deep in defense for GWS this season, spending the majority of the time running out of the back pocket.
Darley could grow into a similar type of player to Hawthorn's Grant Birchall, providing run off half back and using his excellent disposal to set up play forward of the wing. A smooth mover with ball in hand, Darley always appears to have time to sum up the situation and make good decisions. However, he needs to continue to develop a stronger body to compete in contested situations and provide better assistance to his team mates in the air. His frame is still very light, so that is definitely one area he can improve on going into 2013.
2013 shapes to be an interesting year for Darley. He has managed to remain injury free in 2012, so he should benefit from another uninterrupted preseason and be looking to cement his spot in the starting line up. He will face stiff competition for his spot, as the Giants will bring in an enormous amount of talent in the national draft. However, Darley's temperament and ball use will hold him in good stead and he should be expecting to add significantly to his nine games in 2013. Look for Darley to play more off half back this season, and the occasional venture onto the wing, as he matures into his preferred role as a running defender who can spot up targets in attack.

Yeah Darley has played a bit at HBF, pretty versatile with decent pace and good skills. We seem to have identified HBF as a position of need with Docherty and now Darley being talked about, hopefully this is in addition to JJ and not to replace him :)

Also fair to mention that it hasn't exactly been easy to play a running half back for the Giants over the past two seasons which could be why I don't rate him all that highty. That description makes him sound quite good.

Descriptions always make players sound good. Always. So while it's good to get a snapshot of the player and his attributes, you have to remember not to get giddy about them. Because even players that are expected to get picked at pick 65 usually have good write ups.

Yeah I know; just meant from watching GWS games neutrally he didn't really stand out as it's a hard role to play in that side so I may not be the best judge. He looked solid but nothing special but someone who watches him more closely will have a greater opinion of him. The truth is likely somewhere between the two.

It's a pity we cant give GWS Addison for Darley....:D
Well, we can; if Darley wants to get here and GWS are interested in Addison, considering Darley wouldn't be worth anything that they'd actually use they may just trade for Addison despite him being a FA. Unlikely but you can see why it could happen.

If we land Darley and draft Scharenberg, will definitely be a make or break year for Pearce. JJ, Young, Darley, Berg, Wood and Howard all pushing for only a few spots as well as veterans in Goodes and Murph for the next few years....

Good to see he is already out there putting work in, competition for spots is great, especially considering it will benefit Footscray too.

Make or break year for Pearce but not for Howard? I want some of what you're on :D

I think it's really the year for Howard moreso. He's been around for longer, and he hasn't shown that much, and been stuck at Willy for most of this year. If he doesn't show something this year, he's gone.

If we get Darley and Sch
Wood is safe, howard as a flanker
jj is cemented.
pearce to develop to a midfield role and same for jong

Oh absolutely make or break for Howard, but we have discussed that to death recently and everyone, including himself, would be well aware of that. Pearce could be in a bit of trouble if he doesn't show much this season with the depth around him building. A lot of people really rated this kid and he still has a fair few supporters around so hopefully he can lift his game to push for best 22 and not get left behind.

Like the sound of Darley (but yeah agree with you guys write ups can be a little biased, remember the ones from Supercoach Paige? everysingle player in the top 30 sounded like theyd be the next Abletts and Buddys :p) Really need a few of those types on the list and he was pretty highly rated apparently and has been alright so could be good.

I'm one of his supporters :D I really think he can make it. But you do make a good point, he was drafted the same year as Talia, Smith, Dickson who are all already best 22. Campbell who was a rookie that year has gone past him, Austin and Jong were also taken that year. Redpath and Greenwood too but i'm amazed they were retained.

Pearce I think will have another year where he will be given some leniency. After that he's got to be at the very least pushing for a spot in the 22.
