As a rule. I'll always be in favour of people exercising the rights that exist within the terms of their employment contract.

I don't care if you're a highly paid footballer or a contract cleaner.

I prefer the old school unwritten rules in footy. The kind of stuff that builds strong club culture, how connections to the supporter base is maintained and usually how successful teams are built.

Each to their own though I guess.

Dunks should put himself up for fan interaction. Maybe at VUWO he can stand on the terraces, and fans can line up and when their turn comes, embrace him and thank him for 2016 and his onfield service since then, then step back and slap him in the face because of his (alleged) mercenary activities.

And btw the only "evidence" of his "mercenary" behaviour is a trade request to the Bomberos 2 years ago. The "mercenary" tag is being applied this time around on no actual evidence, other than rumours on BF and the media he is considering Port (gf), Brisbane (sister), or any number of Vic clubs. Or that he is holding out and not signing because he is "gone". Those eventualities may come about, but posters alluding to his pattern of behaviour, etc on rumours and hearsay when they have no actual hard evidence in front of them are whistling like a one-legged fart in a fan factory.

(Not directed at any single poster btw, I'm just bemused by the claims being made about Dunkley. He may leave, and I will be annoyed too. Or he may stay, and then there will be a lot of egg on faces. Hopefully that means lots of omelettes!)

No we wouldn’t.

Why do you think the other better players on our list are still at the club? Is it because they all got more $$$ to stay? You’d have to be kidding yourself if you think Bont and Co couldn’t have collected a lot more at another club.

Not all players are mercenaries like Dunks.
Players are often too young to understand the ramifications of leaving for money, which history shows doesn’t always go too well for those guys. And the lifelong bonds these players make get fractured too, these bonds, like in many areas of life, are stronger than money can buy.

Sweets signed for 2 years and will have Bruce and Darcy as potential break glass options.

Bruce and Darcy are not options and Sweet will consider his options elsewhere with the knowledge he has a year to go at WO.

How is Darcy not an option? Bruce is 5th in line and Sweet can consider his options all he likes he's contracted English Lobb Sweet Darcy Bruce is more then enough depth Lobb is the key one missing currently as we need one who can genuinely play forward not drift forward off his ruck opponent like English

Look at English at start of his career in the ruck and his size he was getting mauled and opposition ruckman were beating him up.

Darcy would get beaten up in the same way only good thing is Darcy doesn't seem as timid as Tim.

Bruce is ageing and can no longer jump week in week out in the ruck.

Sweet may go regardless if he is under contract.

Again why can't Darcy ruck? Another preseason under his belt Mason Cox rucks and he is a twig what is the difference?

again Bruce is 5th choice

Again Sweet can't go if he is under contract if you doubt this see Tristan Xerri last off season

Unless Sweet is part of a deal to get someone we really want or something we really want?

Mason Cox is probably 10kg more than Darcy and older in age BUT Darcy will be x100 better footballer than Cox so that is why at his age not using him as a battering ram is important.

Playing Darcy in the ruck IMO would age his body quicker and you don't do that to a 19 - 20 year old

I find it more strange that he’s still doing them based on the rumours.

Strangely enough, often times rumours are nothing more than that - rumours.

Might just be that the rumours are all pi55 and wind 🤫

Sweet has no value whatsoever so that is a pointless argument we can keep him and use a future 4th because thats his best case valuewise

Darcy was listed at 94kg to start the season Cox 108kg Darcy since then has also grown 5.5cm hence he is most likely over 100kg now give him another offseason in the gym and there's no reason he can be 105kg and a ruckman

Mason Cox is listed as 105kgs, hardly a twig

This is some serious denial mate.

He’s been linked with multiple clubs and can be quoted in a recent interview saying that his manager is looking after all that. He didn’t even deny he’s looking elsewhere. You surely can’t say he’s not looking at moving on, a second time in less than two years? After all that we know?

It reminds me of the parent who refuses to believe that their child misbehaves at school.

Even if Dunkley stays, it’s a terrible look for the bloke. He’ll be on the bottom of my Christmas card list, I can guarantee that.

Tom Hawkins is 198cm and 103kg Sean Darcy is 203cm and 110kg for someone who is 211cm 105kg isnt that much. He isn't a psychically imposing player at all minus his height is the point yet is still effective and is a good comparable to Darcy who has an advantage over him having played the game for 19 years

Sam Darcy is still growing and has hardly rucked at VFL level - and is at least 10kgs lighter than Cox
There's a reason we are considering shorter term 2nd ruck options( eg Lobb)

I know this if you read I had him 4th in line which means he is unlikely to do much but is an option we have on the list. He was 11kg lighter at the start of the year he will have put on at least 1kg with each cm he has grown since and will be around the 100kg mark so 5kg difference not 10+

1kg for every cm? Geez you must be a big boy 😂

Sweet has no value to you but he may have some value to someone in need of ruck and ruck depth and has value to us as he may be steak knives in a bigger picture deal especially when he is contracted to us.

He's saying openly what pretty much every uncontracted (or as we know even many contracted) players do on a regular basis. How does that make him a mercenary? He hasn't actually left. Jong made the mistake of appearing at Pies HQ with media knowledge. Chris Grant openly considered an offer from Port at the end of 96, didn't affect his standing. Dustin Martin toured GWS facilities - I bet no Tigers supporters were thinking about that each time he did a victory lap after a GF. Also the link with multiple clubs is media speculation - may be his manager feeding them, but again many players/managers do it. It is his right to test the market. The bolded is laughable. All of it.
