Just wanted to see what are your thoughts about which players do we trade that may have value and which ones do we delist?

Players that have trade value:

Michael Gardiner - I am willing to bet that someone will give us at least a first round draft pick even though eveyone is saying that they do not want him.

Andrew McDougall - not sure that we are ready to trade him yet but he probably would have value.

Matther Rosa - I think that he is surplus to our needs and having played in our midfield and got a Rising Star Nomination I think that he may have value.

Rowan Jones - may have some value.

Brett Jones - I think he may be the player that we are likely to trade as we do not seem to be that commited to him. There are number of teams that he would be a great fit for especially Bombers and Kangaroos.

I think we will end up delisting these players:

Damien Adkins

Josh Wooden

Andrew Banfeld will retire.

Not going to get a first round for him but i would be suprised to see him go to the PSD as i think some teams need a ruckman bad enough to forget his mis-demeaners.

My gut feel is that we will.

Looking back at the big men and their trade value it seems to me that teams are willing to pay over the odds and there is always one or two teams that are willing to overlook past mistakes.

Looking at the current state of ruck stocks I dare say that at least St Kilda, Hawthorn (especially if Spider leaves), Collingwood and Essendon may try going after him and the greater the competition the more likely are our chances to get a better pick.

Very surprised to see Rosa in here. What would you want from Carlton for him?

Seriously though I would think your compensation pick (say17th pick) would be fair in my opinion.

Why? Is the player we'd get with pick 17 going to be that much better than Rosa? I know its the super draft and all but getting rid of a tried young player to get another young player who could be as good, worse or better than Rosa is a little pointless. Also it sets a bad precedent. The Eagles won’t trade players that dont want to go.

Another thing is Rosa isn't surplus to our needs. At the moment he can't get a regular game but in a few years he will. People tend to forget that there is a future beyond the next year and that's why we need Rosa.

I can't believe how ****en fickle people are here, FFS, at the beginning of the year Rosa supposedly would've been in the top 10 B&F at every club and now he's surplus. Kill yourselves. (I know you didn't say the top 10 thing bankteller)

Fisher or Kennedy.

No way Kennedy. Don't even think about it.

Fisher is an interesting one. Will be a good player, but do we really need him? I would definitely consider this trade. Rosa is what we need. Would you be content with a straight swap? I have a feeling Carlton would ask for a lowish pick as well...

Two things:

1. Don't know if we are allowed to trade this priority pick. Any confirmation?

2. In this draft especially, the number 17 pick is too good a pick to give up for Rosa IMO.

Absolutely dreaming.

How many games has he played in the last 3 seasons? 15?

A first-round draft pick is not in the realm of possibility.

You're deluded if you think otherwise.

If your gut feel is that we'll get a 1st-round pick for Gardiner, then I'd suggest you avoid following your instincts.

That's completely bogus. There's no other way of saying it.

I wonder how well you understand the psychology of teams during trade week.

Delusional.

To even consider Rosa as surplus to our needs shows that you dont have much idea at all! He is one of the young brigade that is the future of the club.

Spot on Ted. Rosa is in a good side with a star Midfield how you expect a player to get a game every week in a team that has no spots on the ground for him??

Thank you for that nice to see that you do not get personal.

Having said that my resoning is that if you have a look at number of key position players (that were not even close in talent) that have been traded for far greater yield then just one first round pick.

The players I am referring to are Jonathon Hay and Jay Rawlings but one could also throw Brad Ottens into that list as well. Now I know that Michael Gardiner has baggage but I am willing to state loud and clear that people will forget about that baggage come trading time and will make a rediculous offer. As past history tells us people will do rediculous things and make rediculous offers to get a big man.

No doubt that Rosa is a very good young player, but we also have Morton, Priddis, La Crass and Butler and that is just the less experianced players.

Bottom line is we could do a lot worse then trade Rosa for a highish pick that would give us a decent chance at acquiring a quality full back that we can develop over the next few years.

In my view his value is very high at the moment but I do not think he will be any better then say Callum Chambers, ie a good outside midfielder with decent skill that can run all day but cannot get his own ball and is not very good at absorbing contact or laying tackles.

If you want to catch the dhufish you cant use dog **** as bait

Id trade Rosa if something extremely inviting came around. I think theres ALOT of Melb teams that could use him.

Rosa for Scott Lucas is my go.

Rosa is a better player now than Callum Chambers ever was or will be, he is not an outside midfielder and is very adept at winning the hard ball and putting his body on the line. I can guarantee you that he will not even be considered as a trade option at this stage and furthermore, he will be a regular next year.
