We had GC 2nd when they were down the ladder . We have sydneys 2nd this year so we want them to stay down so we have an early 2nd rounder
Just looked at Sydney's draw - They have 2 double ups of Geelong and GWS coming. Also have Essendon twice and with their renewed form who knows how that may swing. Might only win another 5 games for the year and end as a bottom 4 side.

Of course Sydney always do this though.

The only guarantee with Sydney is that they will beat us at the SCG.

Who remembers our last win there? Buzz Fewster was still playing in the blue and gold.

Something like 1999 wasn't it? It was when Lockett was going for the goal kicking record

Uses ball well ? Rarely gets it, averages 10 disposals a game across career to date .Tackles ? Averages 2.5 per game in his career . Champ data ( I don't have access to ) will record pressure acts but low tackle stats suggest they wouldn't read too well . If someone has this data be nice to get real story .

Highly touted early draft picks always under scrutiny and performance will be somewhat measured against this . Expectations will always be greater .

Stats 2018 vs 2019 can't be compared as sample size 2019 is 2 matches . Allow him 7 or 8 matches and then this stats comparison much more valuable .

Hopefully the ordinary form for reserves vs Perth in WAFL was a one off and he will demand a recall thru compelling WAFL form soon

It was at least a two off , Another very ordinary WAFL outing . Eagles travelling beautifully it'll be a tough gig for anyone to break in

.
I don't think that's the case at all. Kennedys pay is on a veterans list (not included in the cap I think , correct me if I am wrong), Nic Nat is on a reduced contract, Lycett and Lecca have freed up quite a bit of money. Will Schofield will probably be offered a 1 year deal at less money or delisted, Jackson Nelson, Kurt Murtimer, Frasier McInnes (they already delisted him then redrafted him as a rookie) will likely be traded for late draft picks or delisted, Brendon Ah Chee will go. I think WC have a bit to spend on another sizeable contract, maybe night quite a Mill but could be close. If WC went after Coniglio instead of Kelly they would not too far off but I don't think they will seriously go after Coniglio , more than likely they will get Kelly, without having to pay TPO out a contract to Geelong and more than likely get him for 750K per season over 3 years and a couple of draft picks.

Your wrong it sits inside the TPP , total player payments

And WCE don't have much room in their cap
Apparently so. They made space at the end of 2017 with a lot of retirements and delistings (Pridda, Mitchell etc.). They had room to pay Gov while keeping a bit in hand. Le Cras and Lycett were the major notable cap space creators in 2018, but that was really it. Take what Gaff was on, add Le Cras and a bit more to make the new Gaff salary and there's not a lot left. Especially with Shep signing a new deal as well.

I suspect that Natanui will sign for less than he is on, but it won't be 1/2 price or anything silly like that. He has hinted in interviews that he feels that he owes the club for the past two years and expects to be on less. How much is the question.

Edit - Just as an addition, WC are pretty light on for selections in the 2019 draft.
Currently we have, Round 1 - WC pick. Round 2 - WC pick and Sydney pick. And that's it.
Our Rd 3 pick is with Sydney (swap with their Rd2), Rd 4 with St Kilda (Hickey) and Rd5 with GCS (part of a pick swap at the 2018 draft.

We swapped 2019 4th Round picks with the Saints in the Hickey trade - still retain a pick in that round.

We currently have x1 1st, x2 2nd and x1 4th, which [as of Round 4 positions] provides us with picks 16, 22, 34 & 68.

Naitanui could be re-signed on $1m a year and onky $500k is in the cap. AFL Ambassador plus marketing is outside the cap.

Out of contract in 2019 Nelson, Masten, Jetta and Schofield. You forgot about MacKenzie retiring in 18 as well.

Cap space increases also.
