If Darling were to take the massive offer from the Dogs what do we think we would get for him?

Edit: As in if he were to be traded at end of this year. Obviously we are looking at band one if it ends up being through free agency

Na match offer and not let him leave or something.

Honestly with Kennedy on his last legs Darling is going to be the main man maybe as early as next season. Cannot be traded.

I've actually liked Nelson more in that small backman role than Cole, feels like Cole is too small bodied sometimes down in the backline. Admittedly he plays well above his weight, but I've always hoped that we'd develop Cole into an outside mid role. Perhaps even, dare I say it, the Masten defensive wing role?

Cole really should have come back bigger and stronger this year and he didn’t.

I reckon we've become to conservative.

Would've loved us to taken a chance on him.

Yet we took a chance with Flying Ryan and that’s turned out trumps.
So it’s not as if we haven’t rolled the dice.

With out knowing the exacts like the Club would have its folly to be too critical regarding not taking Stack.

If we pass up on a Stack every now and then and foster and cultivate a Premiership winning Friend , Family, Flags culture then that’s all OK with me.

Reigning Premiers ...... we must be doing most things right .

Interesting to note next year Lewis has a cousin eligible for the 2020 draft, Ira Jetta. Might have made the u18 champs but was injured early in the season. https://www.wafl.com.au/player/ira-jetta

In yesterdays podcast Petrie mentioned Jermarl Daly as our next NGA prospect from the Pilbera. Has a couple of bags in the colts, 4 & 6.

Lewis, Neville and now Ira. These are some cracking old school names.

It's very 70s/80s West Indies with your Vivians, Clives, Malcolms and Gordons.

Is it not a conflict of interest for him to be managing our list at the end of the year when he knows that he will be at North shortly after?

I’m sure the rest of the team will do the real heavy lifting, and this way it stops his knowledge of our offseason plans impacting Norf’s moves.

I’d rather he be forced to sit out one offseason than go there at the end of the finals.

Agree best case is he stays, but think it may be unlikely we have the cap to match the offer

Edit: I think he stays anyway.

I doubt Dogs would entertain Naughton or English. Not underselling Darling but both these guys are younger, have huge potential and already have every opportunity at the dogs.
Yeah I agree but I wouldn’t be happy giving him away for anything less than one of those two. He’s worth more for us to keep him in that case.

I’d be asking for Naughton or English as a starting point.
Naughton has spent more of his life in Melbourne and was quoted in his draft year that he had a preference to go to Melbourne (from memory he was a Pies supporter). Therefore I cannot see any desire for him to return home.

English supports neither the Dockers or Eagles and is from rural south west WA. He boarded at Christchurch for a number of years and was frequently giving the boarding house mum a hard time about the Dockers being a flogs club. So his judgement is pretty good.

Can't see him instigating a move either. We need to be honest, there is a lot of attraction for a guy in his early 20's loving life in Melbourne. It is a great place to live, at least for a few years.

Saw Jemarl Daly walking laps with Petrie at training today. Didn’t know who he was at the time but assumed he was a NGA prospect

Listened to that podcast and heard drew talking about him. Did look to be a good size if nothing else

He's finished up and vacated the office but he remains on our books until he goes to North. Have a listen to Simmos 3AW interview on the WCE website before Saturdays game, he goes into a little detail on it, including the protection of our IP and a rolling 5 year list strategy plan.

Hopefully this year is heavily weight towards getting midfielders

My thinking exactly - they will be as unreasonable as they can to force him to stay whilst acting as though they are 'trying to do a deal'. No loss to them as they did it last year and he is still playing well for them even though they blocked his return home.
When a player is out of contract and wishes to go back home for family reasons, would the AFL be likely to step in and force a trade??

I don’t buy that I think we could have managed Stack and kept him in line ..

We didn't do too well with Cousins, mainly because of the company he kept. Could have been a similar situation with Stack and obviously the Club didn't want to take the risk having cleaned their act up over the years since Cousins departure!

That's not really saying much though is it? No offence to Mutimer but at his absolute best he's still just a WAFL level player.
I’m not a fan but have noticed that he has lifted a couple of notches in the six games I have seen live this year
If I didn’t know his history I would be judging him as an up and coming player. Pity he didn’t show much earlier in his career.
Also the options for delisting are slim with the amount of youngsters and contracted players on the list.

You'd hope so given his age, suspect he will go the way of guys like Partington, Lamb etc etc. De-listed and never heard from again.
I just think we've seen enough of him to know he's unlikely to ever be a best 22 player, we don't need him as depth, so dump him and get someone into his spot that does have the potential to be best 22.

It’s not a club issue it’s personal around him. My understanding is both clubs thought it would be best for Stacks stake to leave the state. Welfare trumps the issue it’s not that hard to figure out
And living with Dusty would be a bonus and maybe spending Holliday’s with Dusty’s dad.
