Even if you are being just slightly serious, no chance.

Swallow is the most well regarded junior midfielder to come through in at least half a decade. Absolute franchise player. GC17 wouldn't give up him unless the offer was absolutely ludicrously good. Like Rich+Rockliff+Clark.

If I was Sherman I would be looking at Freo. They are doing really good things with their player development and he would be very suited to the open spaces of Subi.

I have really liked the look of Walters lately (as much as Banfield actually :)) and think he would be a handy player up forward for us. If we could get him in any deal it would be handy.

If he were going to Melb Richmond might be the go. They are in need of some outside players.

Ok, I'll bite. Does that mean you won't be sponsoring a player next year? :p

I will be sponsoring Redden next year although I think its criminal the way Ratten has stuffed up Robinson.

I am still thinking about Banfield (and how badly my wife will crack it if I announce I am sponsoring two players).

Justin Sherman is unhappy at his treatment? Is this the same Justin Sherman that got a good few games to try and play him into some semblance of form long after he maybe should have been rested in the ressies?

I've got nothing against Shermo, and will hardly be devastated if he stays, but he is the worst handball exponent in the league, both in terms of execution and judgment, bar none.

And, how does a guy with 2 years left on his contract demand a trade? If we don't trade him, he's stuck with us.

Sherman is the type of player that would look good in a good side but struggle without the service. For an outside player he has ordinary skills and I don't think he is as fast as people make out. In saying that, every side needs these types. Will be interesting to see how this pans out.

It's no great secret that he had a groin issue this year, but when fit, he has elite pace.

Agree. I have nothing against Justin Sherman and want him to stay but these (reported) complaints are ridiculous. What did he get this season? 17 games? He was given more opportunity to get back some semblance of form than a couple of others with TJ and Stiller come to mind. If this is true it reeks of mental fragility.

If he wasn't the only player with pace in our team he would never get a game. We rely too much on his pace because we don't have anyone else to play his role. Despite his pace though, he certainly isn't footy smart enough to use it as well as he should. He should be able to consistantly blow games open with his pace, yet he doesn't due to either bad positioning or poor skills.

With Sherman now leaving and Rischitelli and Brennan already gone one thinks Voss might look to draft in at least one senior player with some development to help out eg. Armitage. After Black and Power go we will be left with a very young midfield.

Whilst I wouldn't really like to see two more recycled players come on board I am not totally adverse to getting a late first rounder and Walker for Brennan. Tough to talk him out of Adelaide though he seems pretty set on going there.

What is with the Armitage love around here. This guy is just treading water at the moment and we want him as senior player in some development role. I reckon Rich and Rocky have more to offer than Armitage.

With the loss if Sherman, Brennan and risks I would now rather start fresh with youngsters. We have great leadership for them for another year or 2 with black/power, after that I would rather get some good coaching in to help them develop, rather than try trade in a mature player or two.

I honestly can't see someone like armitage 'leading the way' for the likes of rich and rocky

Armitage would be someone to look at due to his age and his potential. He has not had that much opportunity at the Saints- mainly due to their star studded midfield and a couple of injury issues.

I couldn't care less if he came from Brisbane. He is tough, has had experience at a successful club around successful mids and is ready for his senior opportunity. He is extremely physical and can get forward and kick a goal. Being 22 he fits in development wise with the Rich's and Reddens. Finished second in the Sandy B and F too last year which is an indication he is ready for the AFL.

I know quite a few Saints fans weren't too worried with the departure of Ball because they had this fella waiting in the wings. Would add something to our team and, providing he came at the right price, should be someone our club is having a look at.

I'm actually not overly concerned with the current exodus of players.. The Lions list isn't in terrible shape even if Sherman and Fevola were to join Brennan and Rischitelli in departing:

Given a solid run with injuries you would have a side of:

B: McGrath Merrett Patful
HB: Adcock Maguire Drummond
C: Clarke Rich Rockliff
HF: Staker Brown Power
F: Banfield Clark Buchanan
FOLL: Leunberger Black Redden
INT: (From) Johnstone Beams Cornelius Harwood Charman Polkinghorne Proud Hanley

There isn't much in the way of depth, mid field rotations, question marks over Clarke and Buchanan and a few others, as we all know.

If we get 2-3 good yound kids, and one gun from our first pick (..potentially two with two first round picks potentially in the top 10), then it really does stack up as a reasonable team.

Trade wise, we probably don't need to bring in too much, as I think any punts would be on mature age state league players. Ideally an onballer and key defender.

In reality, while adding the four players lost makes the side better on paper, apart from Rischitelli this year, how often did they string together consistent good performances?

He's a Qlder. That's all it is.

I think you will have trouble moving Sherman on, due to his high $ contract.

I cant see another club taking up a n existing 2 year deal at $400K per season....its just way too much for a player of shermans abilities.

You realise the new club can renegotiate the contract right, especially when the player is keen on the move as Sherman reportedly is.

Richmond could take him and renegotiate the deal to something like 300k a year over 3 years.

Just realised that trade week goes for 8 days this year rather than the usual 5.

That's a long time to keep Vossy locked up under the stairs.

Seriously though, will be interesting to see how the longer period changes things. Will most trades still happen on the last day? I'm guessing yes.

Brennan to the Gold Coast could be one of the first trades done if the Gold Coast are no-nonsense about it all and make a fair offer off the bat. Otherwise, I hope Kerr, unlike Gubby, has the cajones to play the game.

Feel like keeping him company?
