What's the point in using our most valuable trade commodity to upgrade a pick where all the experts are saying the draft is very even between pick 4 and 20? We would be better off trying to get another pick altogether in the 20's. And couldn't this pick 32 become a bit later in the draft too if teams take all their compensation picks this year?

I think we can do better.

Doesn't mean the club has the same opinion.

Really like the idea of this trade. Means we have 3 picks in the top 35 and are able to secure one of the marquee kids of the draft with pick 12. Whereas if we only had pick 17 it would be a fluke if we got any of Caddy etc

Hypothetically speaking, what deal would've been thrown up if we swapped final ladder positions and started with 12, 32 and melbourne started with 17, 35?

Surely there would be no way they would've entertained a swap for our 32 for their 17. giving us 12 & 17 and them 32 & 35. The only other option would be to use players aswell. Interesting.

iirc than its us, who is the more reluctant to this deal... i think Melbourne has made the offer and we are just going to wait and see what other clubs (Like Gold Coast and Hawthorne) will offer

I was extremely disappointed when North picked him up with Pick 32 when we had planned to take him with Pick 33.

The club really should've taken him with Pick 28, coz I reckon Marlon Motlop would've still been available at 33.

At an aftermatch function at AAMI stadium, he was asked about it directly.

In his own words, to me and a small group of others, he said

"I don't know where that ****ing bullshit rumour came from. North Melbourne is my home. I love it here."
