All depends what one deems appropriate i guess. ...

For me , throwing up the likes of Lucas Garlett Robinson Warnock etc won't net anything worthwhile .

Luck favors the brave !!
We build our team by swapping people/picks we need for people/picks we dont need and hoping that our draft picks turn out better than we hope. That's how you build a club. Not by trading an essential A-grader for a future A-grader. You go nowhere.

I think Casboult is our best trade bait, teams love those big guys who can ruck and go forward. We would have to bring in a tall forward though if he was traded you would reckon. If Waite left and he wont play for that much longer and we did trade Casboult we'd be a bit bare up forward. Still got hopes Watson might make it as a forward and Henderson goes ok but we need a really big guy who will take the big number one defender away from Henderson. Boyd would likely play some reserves next year if he came to us so having Waite around is important. These big guys, even if they are quality, take a bit of time to get going. I think the club are going to try and transform Kreuzer into a forward who rucks a bit and have him play Casboult's role, it remains unclear if this will succeed but we will know mid next year I get the feeling. It's so important that we get a young big forward who can be a dominant force.
Casboult is a good fit for a lot of clubs out there, might be an idea to offer him to Melbourne/St Kilda with pick 5 for pick one. You'd obviously like to offer pick 5 and Garlett/Warnock for pick one but I don't think that they'd go for it.

Talk of trading Mclean and Robinson, I wouldn't mind if we kept Robinson, I think he will be able to fill a role in the side that Mclean has been playing as an onballer who goes forward. In saying that, both these players have a price, depends if we can get what we want/need. Robinson was actually playing good football before he found ways to keep himself out of the side. I think Robinson has more to offer than guys like Mclean and Bell but it's a matter of him staying out of trouble on and off the field. Robinson can win 30 possessions, Contested possessions, tackles well, attacks the footy, takes marks and kicks goals. His skills aren't too crash hot but these attributes alone make him better than guys like Bell and Mclean. Because he's better than these players it means he might be the one to go though to get the trade we need through.

I like the idea of Higgins, I think he's good mates with Murphy. I'm warming to the idea of getting him, he's a very classy, clever high quality player who's had some seasons ruined by injury. Definitely a role for him in our side, he's a lot like Murphy, Thomas and Docherty in that he has good skills, poise and can play midfield, back and forward. You never say no to getting a quality player for nothing.

I think it's going to be a case of trying to find a home for Warnock rather than gaining something from him. It's really clear that his only use is at ball ups, depends if there is a club who rates this high enough.

Garlett will more than likely go and will probably play decent footy at where ever he ends up. I think he'd be worth a shot for a team looking for a small forward.

Lucas might attract some interest but no more than Garlett who alone would not attract more than a third rounder unless Richmond wanted a small forward. They seem easy to trade with...

Would hate to trade Walker which has been suggested, he's been one who we've really missed in the team, just with his run and ability to go with those really quick guys. Still think that with Buckley, Sheehan, Docherty and the possibility of Thomas playing back or Higgins coming in and playing a bit down back that Walker might end up back up forward.

Our team could be real interesting with all these versatile, skilful guys next year who can play either end. Walker, Docherty, Everitt, Thomas and Yarran. Add Higgins to that it just makes us so much deeper. Robinson also on that list as a versatile type. We start to look like a team with run who can manage players and keep them fresh unlike at the moment, for example I would bet our midfield rotations against Port were really low.

Ok gotcha now ...

We swap players that aren't wanted in a 14th placed team for better rated players in higher ranked teams

Hope nobody else cotton's onto this beauty !!

Players I'd really like us to trade in to the club (might be wishful thinking) :

Lions - Jack Crisp
Swans - Gary Rohan or Jake Lloyd
Dogs - Jake Stringer
Giants - Mark Whilley
Suns - Trent McKenzie
Port - Cam O'Shea
I don't know the bolded. But the rest no chance. Would cost first rounders.

Luck favors the brave !!

Tell that to Michael Voss.

I doubt they'd cost first rounders, they are all decent players but certainly aren't in the "cream" of their respective clubs.

You don't think Stringer would cost a first rounder?

Actually you are right. Offer our first for Stringer and the Dogs would spit in our faces. Rightly so, too.

Stringer would.

McKenzie is highly rated at GC and wouldn't be let go.

Crisps is an up and comer I'd say would costs the least.

Lloyd and Rohan are also up and comers and would warrant more than 2nd rounders.

Rohan might now, Stringer would cost you a player (maybe say .... Casboult), Crisp was a rookie selection and has not played many games yet, McKenzie has a few around him now so his overall trade value may not be as high as you'd imagine, Lloyd is the one I reckon we could get cheaply.

Henderson is one of those fundamental players you want to build around. Losing him would be very big.

Where possible keep the core, move on the fringe, and if the offer is right, the outer core players

I wonder if the following is feasible. (Assuming Jeff, Mitch and Kane want out).

Kane Lucas and Jeff Garlett to West Coast for pick ~31.

Mitch Robinson to Adelaide for Pick ~34

Robert Warnock and Pick ~44 to Sydney for Pick ~38

Head into the draft with the following...

Picks 5, 25, 31, 34 and 38.

What the hell would we need to be offered to make it worthwhile losing Henderson?

Not saying he's 'the next Carey' but geez. He's our best back man AND our best forward. We have somewhat of a bare KPP cupboard, and Henderson is an almost elite KPP who is still young and can get better.

Would need to be an offer 'we couldn't refuse'. And I can't see anyone lobbing anything that juicy.

Nah, that might be wishful thinking.

We can get any player we want. Just wave a pick or Casboult at these clubs to get them to Carlton. Even if they're comfortable and don't want to move. We'd trade Menzel, Docherty or Yarran if clubs came calling with a first round pick or role player.

Trade week hasn't even started...

As bad as the campaigners belting Holman and our recruiters after his first game.

I'm sorry.........what?!?!

Amazing. :D

Use some logic here.

The Dogs are desperate for a key forward, their biggest strength presently is their depth of their midfield fleet. If you were to offer them a key forward (which would solve a big problem for them) then you'd have every right to ask for a quality mid in return, they do have a few on their list.

Not sure Stringer would be the first name they'd put up though which is a shame, he would be a great get.
