Yes, SPP would be capable of contributing straight away, not sure he'd make the best 22 tho. I'm curoius, as his testing suggests there are other aspects to his game that could be developed to round out and enhance his game (beep test, clean hands, goal kicking)! He's got huge boot, so HFF would be a good starting point.

As for drafting, it's always a 10yr proposition. Some blokes will contribute straight away (see Darling), some will take a while to settle in a cement themselves (see Schoey). The key is not to miss on your top 30 picks because that sets you back 3-4 years in just seeing if they can be contributors.

At least SPP would actually kick a goal, break a tackle or stick a tackle playing off the HFF.

We all know who can't.

I don't. Who are you referring to?

You disappoint DS. You are much more knowledgable than that.

Yeah that article in the west was a little weird. Mark Duffield wrote it so it has credibility but most of the comments were written as direct quotes but not the Petrie stuff

I'd tweet the club but as you know they're a bit on the useless side

My exchange re contracts for butler and Tunbridge :

westcoasteagles have contracts for butler and Tunbridge been done for 2017?

@Keyser1617 we announce contracts once they're done...

westcoasteagles you didn't announce lambs

@Keyser1617 did he get one?

westcoasteagles you replied yes when I asked earlier if he was contracted for 2017

@Keyser1617 Lamb is contracted for 2017

westcoasteagles and that was announced when?

Crickets

Is it just me or are they coming off as rude, a bit weird. But to me it reads as though he has been contracted for 2017 either since the beginning or not long after. Hence no extension recently.

JOMs finals experience = 0
Lewis = 4 flags, 20+ finals
More upside maybe but right now a better player he is not.

Sam was out disposaling Tom when he was in nappies.
I had Lewis in my ultimate footy team this year so I watched him closely in quite a few matches, whilst he still racked up possessions his influence on games was minimal. If O'meara gets fit and gets on the park in decent condition I have no doubt he's a better player than Lewis was this year. I agree that Tom Mitchell is no Sam Mitchell but he's still a more than capable midfielder, I don't think the Hawks have lost that much short term and if O'meara works out they're better off long term.

What i would like to see round 1

Barrass - Emac - Wellingham
Hurn - Gov - Shep
Gaff - Mitchell - Jetta
Darling - Vardy - Redden
Lecras - Kennedy - Cripps

Lycett - Priddis - Shuey

I/C Schofield - Sheed - Yeo - Duggan

Vardy to chop out the ruck.

Won't happen though, Masten and probably Butler will get in.
Schofield, Barrass, Gov AND Emac in the same side??? + Vardy who may end up being a truck. Way too tall imo.

That's gold :D

Club obviously thought Waterman wouldn't last until 70's. Vardy is 25 and if his body comes good he is a longer term prospect (e.g. Lobb). Petrie isn't a full time ruck, but he CAN ruck and his body is good. Its good planning.

We have Mitchell and I have the impression despite NN injury we are having a tilt. Why waste the opportunity to have a crack whilst Sammy is still around.

McInnes isn't much chop so why not if its a cheap pickup as a delisted free agent? I don't get the resistance really beyond saying "he's a spud" but yet he's better than our depth?

Can't work out how to bold shit on my phone....But in relation to your third para:

Agreed McInnes has been disappointing, but Petrie has shown little more than him this year and was gifted games when he really should not have been. Perhaps Norf had no one coming through and pushing hard enough for his forward spot...But a ruck options he is definitely not. And apparently a forward/ruck option is what we're getting him for.

IF we are scraping the barrel (and that is what we are doing by looking to Petrie) in the hope that he will somehow be able to cover for one of Lycett, Giles ,Vardy and is better than a variety of other pinch hitting ruck options (including Darling, Yeo, Schofield...and God forbid Gov or even McInnes) we are cooked.... Like a piece of meat at a Sri Lankan BBQ.

Yeah they're better off in the long term but JOM might not play more than 10 games a year ever again and Mitchell might struggle without Sydneys ckass around him.
They have made gutsy list changes and always get their man though.
Pushing for another flag before Clarko retires but expect a different game plan and also for them to land Fyfe this time next year.

Yeh, all hinges on how O'meara works out, they are taking a massive risk.
Be very interesting if they get Fyfe, if only to see the purple tears.

Even with Petrie we're not cooked as we have 2 solid big bodied rucks ahead of him plus Vardy if he can get on the park and get up to date with the game plan over the off season.

BTW to bold text just put this either side of the txt but without the spaces.

If Fyfe leaves it would be much more enjoyable to see him at Richmond after Ross ditches the purples and replaces Hardwick.

Mate, if we're down to Petrie to save us from another 'what-if' season, let's be honest, our season has already descended in to 'WTF' not so much 'what-if'?

Yes don't think we need Petrie. For starters Giles is underrated. He did well against Crows and the hug from Simpson post match speaks volumes. He was also good in the following match. In fact his stats were similar. He also kicked a lot of gaols with EP. It shows that we can develop players. We should find a way to do the same with McInnes.

Agree with the player comparisons, except they traded themselves out of the 2016-17 drafts on top of that too #aggressive

The only way that Emac comes into the side is through injury, form of Schofield/Barrass or if Gov goes forward

Schofield is nothing special, often gets out bodied and is no more athletic than EMac. At their best I prefer EMac - he was just devoid of confidence last year.
