The young fella came out of surgery an hour after the game. Was considering telling him I did not know the score. After busting my chops for a while I told him. My son is a big FF but I he actually teared up a bit, being emotional already about knowing he will miss out on the first half of his footy season (NTFL starts now) it just got to him.

Anyhow, some say trade Warnock for Dawes, sounds like a fair trade. But no way would I want Warnock going the filth, do not want to strengthen them. imagine if he went and got over his injuries,

Good luck to the little fella, hope he recovers well we could use a key forward,

Agree with not giving the filth Warnok, doubt they could afford him anyway.

I heard, from a decent source that Hawthorn are expecting him to stay.

The phrase used was "fabric of the club" kind of guy. His family is very much involved with the club apparently.
I get emotional when I hear talk of the family element running through Hawthorn. It's just...........beautiful........

I feel the same way when I hear the Swans talk of 'culture' and the 'Bloods'.

I feel l want to get up and sing the National Anthem (if only I knew the words ?).

Bluey Mckenna says they maybe in the hunt for others instead of Tippet.....

"We missed out on Kurt but we still haven't lost our drive to get a senior player or two on our list," McKenna said.

"We've stated before (we are looking for) a key tall forward/ruck, who call help out one our developing rucks and our developing forwards.

We have both available.....take your pick bluey!!. The only problem is, not sure what they could offer anyone in return as their first pick is 25, then 44.......does anyone think that both would be enough....or 25 and a player?? seems like Toy is out ???

Gillies for free? Worth a think considering our tall injury issues. AND the guy played more games than Laidler who dodgy
Knees looks the goods. Tough backline to break in to. Would cost nothing.

"Dawes is choosing between three clubs - Melbourne, Western Bulldogs and Carlton - with all three having made presentations and offers in recent days. Dawes is understood to prefer Carlton, given it is the side with a list most in contention and likely to play finals, and he obviously knows coach Mick Malthouse.
But getting to Carlton is the most difficult of the three clubs, given the Blues have admitted they would need to move players out in order to bring Dawes in, and so any move there would have to wait until other deals were done."

Please no to Dawes. Clearly with the Dogs offer of a late first and a second round pick Dawes is massively overpriced and that's without considering who else we would need to move to get Dawes into the club. As has just about everybody else been overpriced on the free agency and trade market thus far -- Sharrod Wellingham for a first round draft pick? Angus Monfries to a 4-year contract? Q-Stick for a $300,000 per year contract?

Rather than playing a game of "which blade of grass is greener on the other side?" how about we take this trade/free agency period as a blessing in disguise. Yes, our list was poorly managed. However, from where I sit I think I'd rather sit out of this year's trade period with the overpriced potential targets and get involved in the action next year when the clubs that pushed the cash in the opening era of free agency and those who thought that they were cashing in on selling draft picks (West Coast) in the so-called "first non-compromised National Draft in three years" and compensation picks (Geelong) for non-guaranteed returns (Wellingham, Caddy, etc.) suffer from buyers remorse and don't have the room in their cap space to compete with the likes of Carlton as we clear a lot of cap room next year.

Would you not rather be able to capitalize in 12 months with a better crop of free agents hitting the market than this year where the big name fish have been a kid who has yet to prove himself (Caddy), a veteran coming off two poor (by his standard years (Goddard), a sniper (Wellingham) and a guy with a history of concussion in an era where the science behind concussion has come to the forefront (Tippett)?

Let's give this year's "premiership contender" a real opportunity in 2013 with a (hopefully) healthy year or at the least a healthier year than this one. Lets also give Mick Malthouse a year to sort through the list to find out who he believes are the keepers, the bargaining chips and the easy delistees.

Too much sense in there Wick... too much sense... be prepared to be shouted down by the 'trade at all costs' muppets who think that we should be getting in someone now to improve our list because all the other clubs are doing it.

Who wants to be like the Smith's keeping up with the Jones'

Lets wait until next year... lets wait until Mick has had a season to fully evaluate everyone on the list, especially the fringe players who are out of contract next year and see what we can do in the next FA/trade period.

I'm worried guys, Last night I had a nightmare that we signed Dawes for 2 years.

Anyone what this means?

Is there bad stuff coming my way, or is it somehow a sign of impending good shit?????

HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEE

I agree with what you are saying to a certain extent. I guess you have no guarantees of who will be available next year - so if there is a player out there now that fills a need for the club (Dawes, Gumbleton) why not act sooner. You could also rattle off criticisms like you have done above about the list of players available next year too - it gets even easier when your club missed out on them!

As to why you'd even be dreaming of Dawes to begin with is beyond me Toady :p.

Don't recall a trade period where we've been this concerned about actually gaining any players.

We didn't bring out the noose because we didn't get Tippett.
We can put back the Magnum for not getting Gumby.
We can place back the cheese grater for missing out on Caddy
Now we just need to knock Dawes on the head and get the pencil out of our ear.

So far so good and if we can dodge Hansen, we would have done very well.

Can't see it as we would have milked #11 for Caddy if we were happy to part with it.

Haven't heard anything though, so none the wiser.

We're also unlikely to be bringing in players considering our list status, unless they were premium quality.

Collingwood rate Lynch more highly than Dawes, which says it all about his ability and upside. Now they want to offload a contract that someone must cry themselves to sleep at night for giving him.

That the Doggies could take the man, the contract and then give back a first and second rounder defies belief and I do not believe it. Nor do I believe that we have "made a presentation" to him. It is BS. Has to be.

Doesn't it? Reassure me please...
