Not a huge report as not a lot happened, but a bit of info anyway.

Fraser and Heath didn't train, so im doubting either will play, expect both to be named though as Pendlebury did say they were on modified programs and would play.

JMac, Caff, Dawes, Obree, and Presti all trained with the seniors. So for mine come match day ins and outs
Out Fraser, Heath, Johnno all Injured
In Dawes/Caff, Presti, Jmac/caff
Depends if we want to go very tall. With presti, reid, brown in the back 50 with Dawes, Trav and Jack in the forward 50, plus Jolly rucking.

Reid spent alot of time doing 1 on 1 work with Max Hudghton, so I dont doubt he will play or will be very very stiff to miss.

Like wise Trav spent a lot of time doing 1 on 1 work with Buckley and was in fact the last to leave the track.

Dawes was also used a follower and deep forward, and can take overhead marks in training, looks to have a huge amount of confidence currently.

Our President was also present, media all over him about the AAMI stadium issues, he didn't seem too impressed with the AFL tbh.

As i said nothing major happened any questions shoot.

PS Heard a whisper Trav may miss, as a mate overheard a reporter say good luck next week, if he does miss its certainly form not injury as he moved fine, but it is just a rumour and I really doubt it

Re: Training 8/4/09

Can you tell us how training went this year?

I am a pretty keen supporter but I am not good enough to remember how training went 12 months ago. That's pretty epic.

:D:p

Well if Cloke is Dropped then Dawes would come in

Heres the report from the Collingwood site:

http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/newsfeatures/news/newsarticle/tabid/5586/newsid/91869/default.aspx

Notable absences included Heath Shaw and Josh Fraser however vice-captain Scott Pendlebury stated in a press conference after the session that the players are ready to go on Friday.

The appearance of Chris Dawes, John McCarthy and Brent Macaffer working out with the AFL group suggests these three young Magpies are on the cusp of senior selection.

Travis Cloke spent a considerable time after training working with assistant coach Nathan Buckley on his set shot while Luke Ball received some one-on-one touch work with head coach Mick Malthouse.

Re: Training 8/4/09

Heath will play, of that I am almost sure, but Fraser has to be the one in doubt.

He was limping late in last weeks game, and we all know how badly he plays when he's injured, I'd rather Jolly ruck 70% of the time and Cloke and Leigh Brown do the rest.

J-MAC should play, or at least that's my opinion, he was BOG in the VFL, and is the most talented player we have at that level.

Thanks for the report Opti.

Heath would be in doubt hurt his groin last week and only came back on after Johnno injured himself

Hope Reid plays, especially if Stanley is coming in. That mo-fo won the GF sprint last year didn't he?

If Reid does play, would like to see how he fares on Reiwoldt for small patches. Reiwoldt stated on One Week at a Time that he doesn't rely on strength but his running power to get to best position. Der. Reid you'd think could go with him in the athletic stakes, or at least seems our best option. I think Harry might be fit enough, but if he was glued to Reiwoldt's back he still couldn't get a fist onto the ball with Reiwoldt's reach.

Did Goldsack train with the 1s?
no with the twos
Feel sorry for Goldsack. He can be a genuinely good AFL player with some chances.
wasnt alone, cook, corrie, barham etc trained with the twos.

A couple of weeks Sack will be back in the the squad

I can't see him cracking the team though. If there's one area that's settled, it's our backline. I suppose CHB is up for grabs, but the Sack isn't in contention there sadly.

I know for a fact we've rejected approached from other clubs during trade with, without even listening to what they're willing to give us though. So he must be in the clubs plans, or at least was then.

I dont think he is entirely out of contention for CHB.

Maxwell more or less played there in round 1 and 2, Reid is still more flanker then KPP currently and he is being used as a CHB. Ive got no doubt Sack can do the role on certain opponents

For sure, he can do it on certain opponents. Unless he fills out a lot though, it isn't a position he can cement himself in the side playing.

The only way I see him coming in is if Shaw permanantly moves into the modfield or up onto a wing, or if Tooves does the same.

Thanks for the report Opti.

The Sack ain't going to come back in after playing 1 1/2 quarters at VFL pace. This is the Saints, the Demons were last week.

one centimeter taller than Scarlett and 4kgs lighter, of the 2006 draftees only 8 players have had more games than Goldie. I think he definately has the potential to play as a tall defender at ALF level weather it be a Gilbert type or a Scarlett type, he needs to work on the amount of ball he wins, but there's no reason to think he cant break back into the ones.
