Zip for Chelsea, then Milan want to swap him with Cerci apparently on loan for both players.

With Chelsea still supplementing the same portion of his wages one would assume? Can't see how it would work otherwise, but either way it's a definitive outcome finally for Chelsea at least.

i really dont believe this would actually be allowed as theoretically it would qualify as 3rd party ownership

Just on academies, our boss says that ours is better than what he worked with at Soton.

Whether that's true or fanciful can't be more than a matter of opinion considering the players that have come through in such a short period of time.

I remember years ago it was us, Southampton, Boro considered the good academies. Mainly because we were developing plenty of players for our first teams. In hindsight it was probably Southampton as they were developing players for a level higher than their first team. And it's really carried on over the past decade, even improved a bit.

So if you can replicate that you'll be doing very well indeed.

All the top clubs were after him and he wasn't overhyped.

Personally think that comparing a player who at that stage had managed about 30 odd division 3 starts to one of the greats of the modern era is very much the definition of over-hyping.

Doesn't mean he was never going to develop into a quality player, but walk before you run surely.

We haven't been since he arrived at Milan apparently(paying Torres that is) he renegotiated his contract with them.

He's gone and we aren't paying him a cent.
Lol poor WC, he was certain Torres was coming back to Chelsea :)

He had that kind of potential, hence the hype. Nobody said he was scholes, they said he had the potential to be like him. Not too dissimilar from Ramsey actually. Took him time. Powell is still very young. If he gets off the piss he has time to come good.

Ramsey had his leg shattered though.

He wasn't though. Fair difference between calling him the next Scholes and hoping he can one day fill his shoes at the club.

Pure hype to say that about a 3rd division player.

Can't remember Ramsey ever being over-hyped. Was aways highly rated and always thought of as a player with potential (that hasn't been realised yet IMO). But no-one was ever talking about him as potentially one of the best in the game.

IMO Powell was only ever compared to Scholes because he had a good long range shot. Never had the passing range, technical ability or engine that Scholes had.

Pretty much exactly the same thing.

But I'm done with it anyway, if Powell isn't an example of an over-hyped player then no-one is.
