Schwarzer should give one season back to Australian football. He's just being greedy and unambitious. And I'm not your buddy either.
He doesn't owe the A league anything. He's given plenty to the national side. More importantly, it's his career and he can do whatever he wants with it.

And here I was thinking we were best mates. Well this is awkward!

Schwarzer has stated his reasons for not wanting to play in the A League a few times now, and TBH he sort of has a point. I'd love to see Schwarzer help the profile of the league grow but he really doesn't owe Australian football anything, to state otherwise is just selfish IMO.

What were they?

yes, the a league should be looking to bring in an almost mid 40's goalkeeper with no international future to take the spot of a potential future hopeful. that would be a great way to serve the a league.

Don't forget to pay him a lot of money as a designated marquee player

He has been rubbish for about the last 6 years and while probably not gold enough for any a-league side it would still be a good contribution to the league.

How do you figure he's been rubbish? Maybe for a club like Chelsea but he's still good enough for the bottom end teams.

Guys like Schwarzer and Cahill owe the A-League absolutely nothing. They have given their absolute all to the National Team and through that team football fans in Australia. In the case of Cahill there's a debate if anyone in history has given more.

Also, Schwarzer in the A-League would be pointless for most sides, it would be ridiculous to pay Marquee wages to a GK of any ability as it's the forwards and midfielders that gets bums on seats. Scwarzer's wage demands wouldn't be viable in the salary cap so he would barely offer anything to A-League teams.

Not sure why Cahill would come whilst still being payed very well.

Don't you know? All Australians should just pack up and come 'home' to the A-League, never-mind the fact that most of these guys have lived overseas for most of their lives.

So he should be, far too talented to not play. The only worry now is coming back into it at that age after a season of doing **** all.
I'm sure it will be fine, Cech is a very professional man.
