Troy Taylor Home Sick...

If you knew what Troy Taylor was demanding of the club, and how bad his attitude was towards the club when he left, you too would join me in a hearty go get ****** Troy.
Bad luck. And the fact he doesn't even know Titch Edwards is aboriginal speaks volumes.
Titch didn't know at that point lol

Nah. I'd give the spot to a bloke who's willing to bust a gut to make it.

Who said his not willing to bust his gut to make it, people do mature. A lot of things can change/happen in four years. He would only make our VFL side better, if he now has the right attitude that is of coarse.

Yep. Carl Peterson said the same thing. So did Liam Jarrah. And Daniel Connors. Would not want someone like Connors and his attitude around others who are trying to make it. Same with Troy. Wish the bloke all the best though.

Happy to stand in a glass house and pass out stones to anyone who has never ****** up in their lives or did something they later regretted. Not saying Troy has regret. But if he has the talent and the club did their homework, if he was the best choice available. I would stand by the clubs decision & brains trust. They have been vindicated in their decision not to take Dayle as far as I'm concerned and I would trust them in recruiting decisions in the future.....

Having said that, I have worked very closely within indigenous communities in the N.T and they are very different culturally from mainstream Australia. Young men who are drafted by AFL clubs from these communities face all of the problems that other young men face in leaving their friends, family, support networks etc But the issues faced by young indigenous players (includes &) goes much further than that...It's complex & I'm glad the Club have taken steps to try and improve in this area with KGI, Aaron Davey, Dick smith's, leadership initiatives and other efforts... Just one of the many things the RFC does that makes me proud to be associated with Tigers...

Not disputing any of the above, and we have a lot of work to do with regards to the indigenous community in this country, but, Troy also thought he could **** us off and a team like Collingwood was going to pick him up as well.
It would appear he has learned a life lesson. The lesson being, there's more to life than footy, and it can be taken away from you in a second. Maybe Troy should hit the books. That would have a longer and deeper lasting impact on his life.

Had his chance and blew it.

Looks like your probably right Nostradumbass ...There are some decisions we make that we can't undo or take back in life. Maybe for some, their path lies in another direction....
I quite like the saying. Sometimes not getting what you want is a blessing...

On the assumption that the reports we have heard - about his huge and unrealistic demands, that the club did do heaps to try and meet any demands that were practical/realistic - are true then the following quote is what does it for me.

“The club tried. I suppose maybe they could have helped me out a bit more and really settle me in properly. But really it was just me. I just couldn’t find the right place to settle in.”

It would show that he hasn't understood everything that went down and hasn't completely woken up to himself - and until that bit happens he wont be making it in the AFL.

I'm happy to hear that he at least acknowledges he made a few mistakes during his time - shows signs of maturity.

I think as a club we are better placed to handle indigenous talents (with the KGI, Aaron Davey being around, Choco Williams at the club and now Titch seemingly embracing his cultural heritage more and more these last few years). Wouldn't mind giving him a run in the VFL side to see if he is serious about trying to make it back.

I'd back the club whichever way they decide to go (personally, can't see them giving him a second chance though).

He matured a bit, but so had Garlett between being rejected first time around and being picked up bu Hawks. Does that mean hes ready for an AFL career. Maybe yes, maybe no. Tho at least hes got a bit of experience of what its like to be at an AFL club, unlike Garlett. Will TT make an AFL grade player? Who really knows?

Seeya lad, give it to a kid who is prepared from Day 1 to do everything possible to get the most out of himself.

I cannot believe how many people are losing it because he had his shot and never tried. What happened to a 2nd chance? Andy Krakour took his with both hands, Stevie J was all but done, Dane Swan was given another chance by Mick and you could probably go on about plenty of guys who have screwed up in the AFL and finally matured themselves to be AFL footballers.

The big difference is those players actually stuck with the club, bar Krakouer, who was delisted due to incarceration. Even in Krakouers case, he still maintains the amount of support we provided, whilst he wasn't a player for us was fantastic, and has nothing bad to say about us. We helped Troy out with his court cases, provided him with legal representatives, stuck by him through that, allowed him to visit his family every so often during the trial, etc.

I'm sorry CM, but I said this about Dustin Martin last year through that whole saga, but the amount of support we have implemented for those two players far exceeds the support we had implemented for almost everyone else on our list, in Taylor's time, and Dusty's time. The difference between the two, is Dusty is starting to repay that faith. Troy took advantage of us, paying for his flights to Darwin, and then refused to come back.

He suffered Home-Sickness, and then wanted us to buy him a house. The only way that is going to cure his home sickness is if his family re-locates, and then Taylor would have run to us with his hand out asking us to pay for that as well.

The faith shown in Johnson and Swan by their respective clubs ensured that Johnson and Swan stuck with them, Dustin too. Troy on the other hand, just upped and left, strung us along for months saying he would return and then has the audacity to say WE could have done more for HIM?

Well, what did Troy do for us, other than drain funds from the club? He was a financial burden, who had talent, but lacked commitment. Best for all parties that he moved on.

That was for the vfl team right?

I think he means Austin Wonaeamirri and yes it was just for the VFL team.

Taylor's disallowed goal in the Ben Cousins farewell match was the best thing ever! Don't think I've ever screamed and jumped around so much at the footy.

Didn't make the highlight reel :(
