And Vickery is nothing more than a depth tall who has kicked a couple bags in 80+ point routs in the past 2 weeks. Has the mobility of a tanker and can barely scrape a tackle a game. He's not in Tippett's class and Tippett isn't exactly special.

OK lets do this another way.

What is David Hale getting paid?

what was he getting paid when he came over from nth?

I'm not his accountant and I don't work at Hawthorn. Anything I say could be off by a significant factor. At a guess, coming off a 12 game season in a non-integral role, nothing from $100k-$250k would surprise me. Could be more, could be less.

Very. Take out yesterdays game and this thread would be no where near created.

Oh really?

It seems your offended is clouding your footy sense.

VickJesus has kicked 24.7 goals in only 15 games playing as a second ruck. VickJesus is just only about to play his 100th game. Compare that to any essendon tall then post back :)

No idea why Tippett cops do much shit when Cloke and Hawkins would be on similar coin.
Cloke cops it for not being worth his pay-packet. Not sure what Hawkins is on but I'd guess it is substantially less than Kurt.
Tippet in form is one of my favourite players to watch and definitely worth 800k.
He hasn't been in 800k form for some time which is no fault of Sydney as he has played some great games for them and at Adelaide.
If we look at this season only, I would take Vickery every day of the week at half the price of Tippett. But that is a bit unfair on Tippet to be judged on one year only.
Still too early in the long run.
If Sydney don't snag a premiership while Franklin and Tippett are in the team, then the recruiting strategy will be a failure. There is a lot of quality lost at the expense of those two.

Honest question. Would you be happy if the Swans got Vickery in for Tippett and freed up 400k up at the same time?
Or do people think Vickery is that bad?

Joe Daniher already averages more goals/game, by the time he's played 100 games he'll easily have 200+, and most of his games have been as back up ruck. Also this poll doesn't have any Essendon player in it so it's completely irrelevant.

Tippett is better than Vickery. The fact that Vickery is about to play 100 games is laughable.

My guess is that Tippetts next contract will be a lot lower than 800k but if not I wouldn't be against freeing up the cap space. I doubt we ever intended to be paying 2 key forwards so much, we were simply put in a situation where we either had to do it or miss out on a once in a generation player and marketing machine in Franklin. I just think Tippett cops an unfair amount of criticism considering his output. There's worse value for money players out there.

Who is worse value for money, other than scully he is number 1 in the league

Lol... Oh tigs... Please rain in your delusional...

Vickery is ok if not shut down which teams sleep on because he is mostly unpredictable and only recently dangerous... Tippet wears a lot more attention through perceived damage and commands quality defenders in plan...

Stupid poll

Stupid poll

how's it stupid, both play a ruck/fwd role

Vickery is easily the better forward simply because he kicks straight
Tippet probably the better ruck

and neither can claim the other player gets more opposition attention when they play alongside Buddy and JR

I like how you defy my statement then give evidence of it being true.

Another example from my own club... Craig Bird is currently being paid 300k+ to play in the NEAFL. GWS are paying Jed Lamb decent money to do the same. There's also a millionaire playing VFL footy at the moment.

I'd consider that worse value than paying 800k for Tippett and I'm sure there'd be plenty of other clubs with players on decent money who are playing terribly or can't even get on the park.

I understand the premise of the comparison and I'm not here to argue that Tippett on 800k is better value than Vickery on 400k but to suggest he's only marginally better than Vickery is crazy.

34.14 isn't exactly wayward kicking. In fact, it's up there alongside Vickery as one of the most accurate returns of any key forward in the league.

24.7 is 77%
34.14 is 71%

So Tippett's accuracy is pretty bloody good if you ask me.

If you're including their salary cap price in this poll, then Vickery wins. To put it in perspective, we are probably getting Vickery and Brandon Ellis this year for Tippet's 800k+ pricetag.

If you take cap out of it, Tippet would currently be the better, more reliable and proven player, but Vicker could overtake him in time.

Ty every single day of the week, it's not really even close considering the wages.
