Do you guys even know what most of those frees were for? Most of them came from YOUR mistakes; high tackles, out on the fulls etc. which was exasperated by our high-pressure style of footy.

Yeah no doubt it was disgraceful but it was on both sides. You lot got a handy few goals from dodgy decisions whereas 80% of our frees were from Richmond's mistakes. What most people fail to realise is that teams can actually legitimately earn free kicks for playing high-pressure footy. Good old Wacko Jacko (name fits quite well) just sees the free kick count and assumes they were all favoured frees. I thought everyone grew out of the phase of blaming umps after the age of 9.

The free kick differential last year between you and us was well over the 200 mark. We won a premiership with a - 100 odd frees differential. We are basically just sick of getting smashed by umpiring for 2 years. This isn’t about Collingwood it’s about the our shocking run with the frees.

It’s not really all their fault, it’s the afl and their shitty rules with ambiguous interpretations. Too much grey area and not enough black and white. Umps are just guessing most of the time.

I agree with the interpretations part. That free that bloke got against Sidebottom where he knocked it out of his hands is probably the most incorrect interpretation of Holding the Ball I have ever seen. Then again dodgy umps are nothing new they used to be our worst enemy in the 2007 - 2012 days but that's because our game style likely accommodated risky play which would more than likely result in frees. Geelong won the free kick count 24 to 20 last week, no one blamed them for our loss.

It's as simple as this, high-pressure team puts pressure on other team, they therefore make more mistakes which results in frees. Pressure increases as scoreboard and time tick over leading to more mistakes and therefore more chances for free kicks. This phenomenon is seen at every level of the game. Either way it's, a strange line of arguing because you guys are assuming the free kicks we got even had an impact on the game, let alone the scoreboard.

Free kicks will rarely be "even" but 27-9 is taking the piss in what was relatively even game for 3 and a bit quarters.
