The Free kcik, then subsequesnt 50m the dogs got early, goal on the goal line = HORRIFIC

The 50m the swans got for the dogs player being 0.00000593654 seconds late in truing to spoil, goal from goal line = HORRIFIC

The 50m Darcy got paid against him from trying to stop on the mark, I'm not even sure he wont over... = HORRIFIC

And they are paid $100,000's+ per year to umpire

Naaahh...they get that amount to toe the AFL line...umpiring has nothing to do with it!
If Umpiring had anything to do with the game...the AFL would have a please explain over every strange umpire decision made every week! But they don't...sooo nahhh!

Really wanted the Swannies to win last night (so we at least can claim that we are the only side that has beaten them). So I was almost at the point of barracking for them.

It felt bizarre to have the rub of the green and all the help in every way from the men in phlegm to ensure the Swannies won.

Definitely an agenda that one team on any given match is the preferred winner in the Ump's eyes.....

The umps are making this game completely unwatchable. They couldn't possibly suck Collingwood of any more if they tried.
Check these cheating carnts bank accounts. This is worse than FIFA.
they are all pies and blooze supporters

In the 1970's the average free kicks per game was 83. In 1980 - 72, 1990 - 50, last 10 years or more 37 average.

So free kicks have gone down noticeably from when the game was great to watch in the 80's, free flowing, high marking etc.

At the same time when tackle stats started around 1988, there were an average of 7,400 tackles per sesaon. The tackle count last year was 26,000, peaking in 2015 at 29,000.

So tackle counts have gone up from the 70's nearly 400% while, free kicks have gone down from 83 to 37.

If Ron the Bear was still with us, he would have the exact percentages, cue Meteoric Rise, but you wonder why older posters lament the modern game. Unless Richmond are playing I find it really hard to watch, and it has become almost impossible to umpire, even more so for Richmond supporters.

I walked away from the Freo game with no idea how some of these rules are interpreted. Holding the ball appears to be an absolute lottery now, play on calls when players don't move, etc, etc. Surely the least the AFL can do is explain the process for these decisions/non-decisions so that they can be looked at analytically.

For example, I used to umpire junior games and we went through the "holding the ball checklist" every time there was a tackle:
  • was free tackle correct (not too high or too low)?
  • did the tackled player dispose of the ball correctly
  • did the player dispose of the ball correctly?

Once you go through that you get htb or not, NFI what the process is now.

umpiring is still a side gig to make a quick 150k for these flogs outside of their quackery day jobs where they crack the spines of poor injured individuals and then try to make it a subsciption service

And yet they are underpaid relative to other umpires/refs at the top of their game. They're underinvested in and given shit rules to work with.

Is there no incorrect disposal rule anymore? If you get tackled and the ball spills out you need to reward the tackler. It's just bullshit how sidesrse gets spun 720 and shells a handball out and it's play on
I reckon a 360 spin is a great tackle...and it's holding the footy and incorrect disposal!
The rules are getting stretched...just like the time it takes to do a 360 degree turn...
So when is it a spun tackle...correctly accomplished?!?!??!!!?!?!!?
On the 360 turn plus another 100 degree turn?!?!?!?!!?!!?!
No wait lets leave it...
On the 360 turn plus another 105 degree turn!!!!!!!!!!!!
No wait let's leave it...
On the 360 turn plus another 350 degree turn!!!!!!!!!!!!
Need to let the "prior opportunity" effectively play out before making a correct fecking decision!

Both games this week have been decided by free kicks. This issue isn't limited to Richmond. Pressure on the AFL needs to increase. Game is being poorly managed.
Three Teams on the Football Field playing at the same time...
One Team...
The other Team, called the oppo...
The Field Umpires...
The Field Umpires are constantly interrupting the play of the other two football teams!
The Field Umpires are constantly trying to beat each other in awarding free kicks that lead to goals!
The Field Umpire that awards the most free kicks that leads to scoring of goals is the winner of the game played!
Nobody loses any more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The two Teams playing are rewarded by being allowed to play the Football Game the way the Field Umpires deem it to be played!!!!!!!!!
Every one participating is rewarded!
The only losers are the paying public and genuine football supporters, who are presented with a lukewarm spectacle of a once great game!
