Didn't see the game but read a report that said Jota's goal was 110% a handball?

Nope. Camera angle from behind makes it appear that way due to his arm being by his side. Reverse angle shows the ball coming off his thigh onto his chest.

Can see what Arteta was trying to do first half and it generally worked. We stifled a lot of their creativity but you are always going to concede a few chances as it’s quite hard to maintain throughout a whole game.

Second half felt better to watch as Ceballos was much better at cutting through the lines than Xhaka but I’d say that was also because of our mentality. Elneny impressed me today and can see him being a good squad player if we sign Partey or Aouar.

Our passing out the back was horrendous at times. I back Luiz to hit a good long pass but Holding just can’t do it. Almost would rather Luiz on the right of the CBs when trying to play out. Very surprised Gabriel didn’t start however but i assume it was because he wasn’t familiar with Playing against Liverpool. Surprised we didn’t go long to the corners a lot more in the first as they struggled a bit to handle it.

Would have put my house on Laca to finish his chance in the second and that would have really changed things. Willian was at fault for the second (don’t really blame Bellerin as the commentators said), just needed to track back and that doesn’t become a goal.

All in all, solid 7/10 in my opinion but lots of room for improvement.

I don't share the optimism of some about this morning, thought we got absolutely battered for the most part, 21 shots to 4, 70 % of the ball for them and we got gifted a lead and could only hold it for 2 and a half minutes.

As for the team selection whatever lineup we go Liverpool are just too good for us, but not sure as to why Ceballos isn't starting. Holding also shouldn't be in the starting lineup.

I'm pro Arteta but he dissapointed me this morning.

I think we have to acknowledge that while we've had a good recent record against 'Pool, they are the best side in the PL currently and were playing at home. Any expectation that we'd play other than defensive is probably naive.

That said, got a look at the Tierney/Mane run in. Bloody hell, Liverpool should have been playing 95% of that game down to 10 men.

Liverpool are a top 2 side in Europe and clearly the best side in the PL, I was still dissapointed with Arteta's team selections though and I'm not as impressed by the performance as most Arsenal fans, looked like men treating boys with contempt to me.

Possession means nothing though. Yeah they had 21 attempts but how many were actually threatening? I remember one from mane straight at Leno, TAA,s from distance which hit the bar but after the first half that’s all I can remember. They only scored because Willian and Bellerin should of communicated better for the Robertson goal and the ball parried into Mane, That’s all they created.

They dominated and the ball was continiusly coming into the box, when that happens you're bound to force some mistakes from the opposition. What we need is a better midfield so we can releive some pressure, and create some chances of our own, Liverpool did as they pleased IMO, they were never not winning that match.

Promising news (I still never believe an Arsenal transfer though until it’s announced by the club).

Hopefully this can set in motion the round robin of transactions we need to finalise in the remaining week.

He’s accurately nailed a lot of the transfers this window, yes. So that bodes well.

I listened to a snippet of Ornstein’s podcast, he’s of the view Aouar is more likely (and only an outside chance that we’d get both).

Eh...I don't mind Atletico being shitty with us for not offering enough but kinda lol they are being cheap and going the loan option instead of the permanent buy/mandatory fee at end of the loan. Either we're not keen on Partey anymore or they'll perhaps let us go the loan/buy route as well.
Anyway, hopefully gets the Aouar stuff going further.
