Arteta will have to earn his money if we are going into games with elneny and co.

Dont mean to much disrespect but to push forward into the top 4... we need quality in the central midfield.

Yeah I'm just depressed as **** with this club, all my optimism about project Arteta and Edu is getting sucked away. Fancy going into a season trying to get CL qualification with CM options of Ceballos, Xhaka, Elneny and Willock.

I know exactly what you’re saying. No disrespect to Elneny, very solid player and you know what you’re getting when he plays.

However the fact that he has been out on loan for so long, not really even in the picture (I forgot he was loaned, thought he was sold a few years ago) and then suddenly is back in the squad and starting games against Liverpool etc is very puzzling.

A bit of an indictment on the club that we have so many fringe players hanging around that we cannot sell or find new clubs for. Guendouzi, Kolasinac, Ozil, Mustafi, Elneny, Sokratis and so on.

Shouldn’t even be at Arsenal, and the failure to finalise their transactions has huge implications for pending incoming signings we clearly need.

The problem is we have been throwing too much money at these guys. We pay Champions League salaries, but the level of most of these guys is Europa (or lower) and those teams can't afford to pick up the contracts. Hence, we are stuck with them while they run down their contracts.

Unfortunately, Project Arteta is going to take an extra couple of year due to the state of the squad. In twelve months we will be rid of Ozil, Mustafi, Luiz, Sokratis. They will free up cash to start bringing in guys Arteta wants. Shame we didn't go straight to Arteta from Wenger. Would be in a very different position now.

I actually hate this club. We are ****ing amateurs.

Imagine going in to the season with Xhaka, Ceballos, Willock and El ****ing Neny as your midfield options. Our best midfielder isn't even ours and you can bet he won't be hanging around with us for mid-table battles next season.

We are a pathetically run organisation.

I really wish PEA held the club to ransom and waited until players walked through the door before signing.

Also we will never get a chance to sign a player like Aouar again. That's done now.

Bravo Edu, Vinai, Stan, Josh and the rest of the amateur organization. **** all of you.

I do feel for Arteta. Needs full backing by the owners to acquire the players he needs. However has one hand tied behind his back due to some legacy issues with poor transactions under the watch of Wenger/Emery/Raul and so on.

Atlético have been crystal clear on their position with Partey. €50m is the release clause. Activate it, pay it upfront, and he’s an Arsenal player. Wouldn’t it be lovely to have ownership worth billions of dollars who could inject/redirect the capital required to enable this transaction.

If it doesn’t happen soon, it unlikely will at all. There’s no guarantees in life and football, can’t assume that another move will be made in January. Players move on, other clubs circle. We need to capitalise on the opportunity now, or it very likely will he missed.

I never had any faith we could sign Partey. Only way to get him was to trigger the release clause, and that required a full upfront payment. Transfer fees of that size are never paid in full, even for cash rich clubs. There will always be a staggered payment plan. We don't have that sort of cash, especially given we will be paying for Pepe for another couple of years.

I do think the decision to go so hard to get Pepe, and his failure to have an instant impact, is influencing the reluctance to meet Lyon's valuation of Aouar. This administration can't afford another expensive "failure". Problem is there is another €20-30m alternative we can target to improve the squad.

Without an injection of money we will continue to drift away from the top 4 towards mid table... and once mid table... we could be stuck there for years.

Bit of a knife's edge at the moment...

Depressing thought, but very true.

We literally can't afford to do nothing, that's so much worse than signing Aouar and him not being a 50 million pound player.

Our squad is mid table at best. Our midfield is relegation worthy. El Neny will be starting games. It's unfathomable that it's come to this. The whole entire administration needs to be sacked and the owners need to **** off.

If they had just reached into their pockets and helped us sign Aouar and Partey then we would be set up for years. But instead we will now be set back years.

Looking forward to tonight's game hopefully we will see a more attacking game instead of sitting back and absorbing the pressure and hitting on the counter.

Ceballos should start... he is our only creative midfielder at this point in time.

There are always options to be explored;

James Rodriguez went to Everton on a 2 year + 1 extra loan option.
Thiago Alcântara went to Liverpool for initial £20 million.

Two players that would have instantly improved the squad.

The club seems reluctant to explore every option.

Thiago would have to be an idiot to join Arsenal over Liverpool
