Partey's release clause being triggered?

Arsenal withdrawing Torreira's loan deal, demanding a permanent deal, in order to force Atletico to the table?

Is this real life? Are we actually doing something good, bold and ambitious here?

The two are unrelated. Arsenal don't need to deal with Atleti. Triggering the release clause is done directly with LaLiga.

Honestly didn't see this coming. Figured if they had the cash to meet the buy-out they would have gone earlier. Suggests plan was Auour and Partey if they could get both at right price. In the end they had to choose, went with more defensive option. Will hopefully allow us to revert to a back four and get an extra creative player in midfield.

Does put a lot of pressure on players like Pepe and Saka to step and provide something, because our biggest issue is chance creation, and Partey is not the answer to that.

It’s an excellent signing, sorely needed. Can’t help but wonder why it has taken so long, will be listening with interest in the coming days to Orny’s podcast. It’s a bit ridiculous really.

Anyway, a huge signing for the squad.

Torreria loan the other way is awaiting announcement as well.

You can push Ceballos up further perhaps or someone like Saka has shown he can thread a pass. Will back in Arteta to sort it out, and maybe one in a million shot we go back in for Aouar in January? Who knows.

I like the idea of a front four of Saka behind Auba, Willian left, Pepe right. To do that, we can't play three at the back, so hopefully Partey makes that possible.

I can't see us making a play for Aouar in January. Crowds won't be back by then, so our revenue will continue to be down. Unless we can shift some deadwood we won't have money to spend in Jan.

Great to see Partey, I think he was the more essential buy of the two, although it would have been great to get both.
We do have options in the attacking midfield position, with Ceballos, William, saka potentially, also Willock and ESR. Theres also that Ozil guy, whatever's happening with him.

AMN will also feature as an important piece in that midfield.

Retaining Bellerin, with Cedric as his back up at RB, will allow Arteta to utilise AMN in his more natural position.
