Pretty much only just now calmed down after that. Wow, I was expecting a dip at the start of the 5th but it was the other way around. A lot of vintage Lleyton out there which was awesome to watch, the man is a champ.' :thumbsu:

I wouldn't underestimate Donskoy at all, I'm worried about the let down but this is a great win for him and he can enjoy it

Fairly standard set of results on the men's side today. Ferrer did struggle a little bit while Isner got beat by Kohli here again. Federer demolishing Mannarino right now. Pity Evans lost against Robredo choking away that 4th set but I kind of expected it.

Kvitova winning only 3 games against Alison Riske, pretty funny result. While Giorgi, the little Italian hottie beat Wozinacki in the night session, nice to see. Azarenka had her struggles today too.

Hewitt 2nd on grandstand tomorrow, should be around 4-5am, the Sloane/Serena rematch should be fun too is Sloane plays the kind of tennis she did in the last round.

Kvitova said she was feeling sick, but I'm not sure how much weight that holds.

That Wozniacki/Giorgi match was a good one to watch. I thought Wozniacki would lead on from the first set and block her way to victory. The Federer match is a bit of a non event.

Hit some excellent passing shots and backhands DTL against Del Potro. Great net play against Donskoy as well.

He will need to improve on his serving to beat Youzney/Haas though.

Barty and dellacqua have made the quarters in the doubles also. They've been a great team since the AO this year.
Shows you how important team chemistry is in doubles. Neither Barty nor Dellacqua are superb tennis players, but they have a great relationship and know each other back-to-front. A bit like the Bryan brothers.

The way Li Na's going tonight, Serena's going to have a battle on her hands if they meet in the SF. Strong, clean hitting transforming Jankovic into her trademark 'I don't give a shit' performances.

Youzhny's USO record is strange. He has made the SFs twice, but otherwise has never made it past the first week. Last two years he has bombed out in the first round.

Hewitt is a nightmare matchup for him - a counterpuncher who has good passing shots and doesn't mind coming to the net. He's only beaten him once in 6 meetings - a three-setter 4 years ago. When they played last year at Cincinnati, Hewitt routined him 4 and 4. On paper Hewitt is definitely the favourite, and he'll be happy he's playing Youzhny instead of Haas.

Hewitt is serving terribly though. He was at about 50% FSP in both his last two matches, which isn't good enough. Needs to get it up to 60%+ to give him a good chance of winning this match. If he can't, he'll need Youzhny to implode like Del Potro did.

Thought he actually served better today, was being really effective in getting free points and it was only really in the 4th which dropped the 1st serve back to his standard 50-55 range we are used to now. Yeah, it needs another gear but I'm not sure he has it

The way he his hitting the ball is beautiful though and again was very effective coming into the net. He hasn't hit the down the line backhand as good as he has done this week.

Glad Youzhny won, it's a better matchup, I would see Youzhny as slight favourite here but Hewitt has every chance to grind him down

Youzhny is a tough opponent. Would be pretty happy to see hewitt through to the quarters anything after that would be an absolute bonus.

And for the record US open worst timeslot going around in sport so frustrating!

Loved being in Europe last year and actually being able to watch this tournament. Back in Oz and it is basically impossible to follow with a 9 to 5 job.

Yeah makes it so hard. You can try and avoid media and news all day and watch it on IQ that night as though it is live but that is near impossible
