I was hoping Thomas or Reid would play, you would think this almost rules Daisy out of round 1 contention.

Hartley is playing too. That's me & Blazer's favourite player.;)
I was on the Hartely bandwagon before we even officially had him, his game against Patton in the national champs is the stuff of folklore.

Why has Paine been left to play all his games with the twos so far this pre-season?

You can harp on about "having a run for fitness purposes" but it's not the same in terms of having the talent around him. He would have been better served by at least having one hitout inthe seniors as he has actually played quite well over the last couple of weeks.

I think it's just bad timing with his shoulder. Ideally he would have come back for one game in the VFL and then had a run in the seniors, but he just ran out of time.

Oh, you're a funny bugger aren't you! PMSL

That was Just 1 Game.

Glad the Sides came out before you get to the Ground:)

There's no real coverage of this game anywhere it seems, Dave is there though, and the Pies twitter account is giving updates.

Goldsack, Kennedy, Paine and Hartley are the only Collingwood listed or rookie listed players out there today.

3 goals to nothing start for the Scum also.

Dave says Paine hasn't been seen since the second quarter when he took a big hit, reckons he took a hit to the head, maybe concussed, hopefully that's all it is, or we are just being pre cautious.

We are trailing 69-41 late on, Corr has three goals (VFL listed player).

Kennedy has been the best of the listed players apparently, Goldsack has been ok.

Pretty poor by collingwood saying they would cover this match then just not doing it and not putting anything on the website explaining what was happening... not very professional !

Hi Blaze, I apologise for the absence of the live chat. Unfortunately it's been a difficult day for all 18 clubs as the system shared by all clubs and the league itself has been down. There was (and remains) no certainty as to when it will return to normal, and even as of 4.45pm I was still hoping that we might be able to run the live chat. We have been advised to refrain from publishing any content this evening (as Adelaide and Essendon take priority which is understandable); hence no updates to our website (not even a courtesy notice saying that the page can't be amended!) and no live chat (which we mentioned on Twitter in the first quarter). Definitely agree that it's not a good look, but we're hamstrung by the situation unfortunately. I've spoken to both Anthony Rocca (who coached today) and Tyson Goldsack post-match so we'll have articles on both plus a full recap featuring photos from the day that we've already got ready to roll. Again, I apologise for the lack of notice, but it's something that's currently out of our hands (as you can see, the VFL preview article can't be amended to remove the heads up re. the live chat!).

As for the game itself, only four AFL-listed players were out there for us. Paine copped a blow to the head in a marking contest and was seeing stars for a little while and didn't participate in the second half. He was in the action with the coaches in the rooms post-game so it's good to see that he isn't affected by it.

Goldsack got some run in his legs without starring, Kennedy was quite busy in the midfield and Hartley did some good things at half back (some nice spoils and one really good contested overhead mark on the wing).

Cathal Corr was our best in attack with four goals. Nick Riddle, Lachlan Wallace and Jordan Collopy all had the moments during the day. Heath Scotland, Jaryd Cachia and Tom Bell were among the Carlton players out there for the Bullants/Blues today.

We'll have all the quotes and recaps online as soon as we can. Fingers crossed the system has no issues next weekend when we take on the Kangas! And at this stage I'm definitely intending to cover Thursday's match against the AIS from the 'G via the live chat. Should happenings such as today's occur again in the future, I'll try to post on here and give you guys (the true hardcore Pies) a heads up.

Cheers,

Luke

Work ain't over just yet, Quicky, we've got to have that VFL content ready to roll out as soon as we get the green light! :)

As an aside to the above, if you do notice any errors with the website (specifically pages that return a Proxy 502 error (which is what all clubs were copping today) or perhaps any broken links, please PM me on BigFooty and I'll assess it as soon as I can.

Just Back. Very Poor Except for 3rd QTR.

  • Kennedy was really good and had 2 Moments in last QTR when he got the ball then Perfect Kick to the Leading Forward
  • Hartley was okay for his 1st game of the Season
  • Paine KO'ed in 2nd QTR
