Who will you be voting for and why?

I think Thornton deserves votes. Had a corker!

And if anyone gives votes to Hinkley in the young gun, I think they should be shot.

Thornton was quite good today, but who was he actually playing on in the second half? He started on Wirrpanda, but DeBoer played on him in the second half.

Hasleby, Duffield, Schammer, Hill, Ibbotson, Pavlich, Sandilands, Grover, Thornton, Mundy, Peake and McPharlin could all be considered for votes. Tarrant was solid, but not sure if he was vote worthy, LeCras ended up with 2 of their 9 goals. And unlike Grover and McPharlin, he didn't hurt them the other way all that much.

As for Hinkley, I didn't mind his game. He made a few mistakes in the first half, with a couple of handpasses not hitting the mark. But he took the game on, and got better as the game went on.

He was on Masten for some of it.

Smashed him, and then went forward again.

Someone from the game could tell us who he was on in the 2nd half.

And I thought Hinkley stayed at a low level right throughout.

Tarrant was good - one of Lecras' goals was the fault of Grover.

Apart from one handpass, he was fine.

Thornton seems to be at home when he's on the half forward flank. Only one of his quick play on kicks when to the egurls i think. Couldn't fit him in my vo tes tho.

Our backline finally stopped leaking goals in the second half. Dodd played a great game two weeks in a row totally shutting down hansen and Taz walked all over lecras which was awesome considering he has so much less mobility.

Loves the games from our youth brigade, Hill was sensational, Suban did well down back (that delib OOB was crap), Deboer shut down wirra, all is good!!!!

Ibbo seemed to be back winning the hard ball, welcome back. Well enough of my ramblings.... :)

The thing with Hinkley is when he has time & space he makes very good decisions and generally gets rid of it well. It's his close in game that needs work.
I loved Tarrants desperation today, couldn't find room for Scotty despite a solid outing.

Tarrant was good - one of Lecras' goals was the fault of Grover.

Weren't they both from Grover's error's? One missed handpass to Taz, and another from the holding the ball, when Grover was over the boundary line. Taz was filthy after both goals. Thought he played great. :thumbsu:

Geez we (Palmer esp.) get a roasting about missing targets, but FMD Priddis and Rosa couldn't hit a target to save themselves.

Hinkley made one terrible handpass and missed one tackle on the wing which was a bit soft. Apart from that he was quite good, and can only get better the longer he stays in the side.

He seems to know his limitations with his skills (his kicking was actually not that bad today), and at least tries to take the right option most of the time. For example if he has an open option to kick to he will do so, otherwise he looks to hand off to a better kick or just kick it long.

I think we need to keep him in the side and hope with time that he gets to use his main asset (pace) more and more. You can't have enough fast players, he just needs to keep improving his disposal.

oops. Might need to invest in a bullet-proof vest. I gave Hinkley a vote cos I thought he worked his way into the game.
:p

What are the votes allowed for the young gun award?

Because I would likely go 3 - Hill, 2 - De Boer with none for 1...

5. HAYDEN
4. Hasleby
3. Hill
2. Schammer
1. Thornton

BYB:
3. Hill
2. De Boer
1. Suban.

I cant believe as i said in the vote thread that most DIDNT put Hayden in their votes... I honestly don't think we would have won if not for him! plain and simple!

and the rest.... well they played great games so it was a given...

Wow... really tough this week!

5 - Hase - what more needs to be said?
4 - Scham
2.5 - Hill
2.5 - Roger
0.5- Tarrant
0.5 - Thornton

Young guys:

3 - Hill
2 - De Boer

I'm also surprised at the lack of love for Roger. He was incredible in the first half when we needed someone. I think people just look at who is playing well when we are, rather than looking at the game as a whole... and what is most vital when.

I thought he was equal to the top echelon out there today, so gave him equal votes with Hill.

I think the jobs Thornton  and Tarrant did were fantastic. Couldn't split them, but our defenders should be rewarded. Thornton was the only one running up the field in the first half when we needed it. And his skills and decisions were good. Tarrant - inspired.

For the young gun... seriously, Hill should be given 6 votes from me, for that game. De Boer did a great job and absolutely love his niggle. Can see why he wants to be a lawyer, because his competitiveness and niggle is intellectual as well as physical. What a gun. No wonder he gets under player's skins. I'd love to hear what his smart mouth has to say. :D

Didn't think the other youngins did enough for a vote. Think Suban was on Masten in the first half??? But was moved quickly, and didn't really have enough impact for mine.

Hinkley, nothing hear nor there apart from a massive clanger stuffing up a great passage of play.

I just watched the replay and Hinkley wasn't bad at all. A few clanger handballs but he ran hard all game, got plenty of the ball and never stopped trying.

I think I'll edit my votes to give him 1 in the BYB, if for no other reason than to annoy Chops.

Exactly, i thought without Dodger in the first half it would have been alot more than 19 scoring shots against. He's composure and ability to break tackles in the back half and then USE THE BALL going foward really allowed us to stay in the game. Would have lost if not for him.

Well done Dockers my votes because I could barely give a vote to our players.
Haselby 3 sh#t first half was the best extractor in the game also great link man
Pavlich 2 usual brilliance none of our players turned it on in the final half
Tarrant 1 stopped Lecras with the current inaccuracy of every other forward restricting him stopped us from kicking a winning score.
Hopefully we will beat you next derby congratulations on a good result in a high pressure game.
