Surprised Schammer is getting so many votes tbh. I thought it was one of his worst games of the season (at least lately) - he was pretty ineffectual around the stoppages, which is where we need him firing.

BYB

3 Suban
2 Hill
1 De Boer

Yep.

We really noticed him being rather ineffectual yesterday.

Just didn't hav that drive in the midfield that we'd had recently, and that was largely due to Schammer's drop off in this game, IMO.

If there is chat to be had, may as well chat in the votes thread (if you notice in the OP of that thread, I took out the "votes only - chat somewhere else" clause...). I'm sure my meagre brain and oft challenged intellect will be able to cope. :)

And what will posters get infractions for now, if not for posting comments in the votes thread???

Good idea to chat here... chat in the votes thread invariably influences peoples voting.. happens all the time.. "Can't believe people are voting for Sandi ..he stuffed up here, and here and here......" and the next 6 people don't put him in their votes.

Headland was better than I would have thought yesterday. Thought he would need another few WAFL games. But he certainly contibuted more than a couple of our usual 'witches hats' out there.

Disagree. Duffield has been pretty good the last few rounds, yesterday included. Seriously, he seems to be giving 100% whenever he can.

We must have watched a different game....
He was well down on his usual and Schammer was better than him yesterday. Last three weeks his final quarters have been woeful, yesterday was his worst - just bombing it twice and it rebounding back out. He lacked composure of his Sydney match.

Probably should drop him, but keep Murphy ;)

And, as Bridesmaid will also tell us all, we have to keep Mundy in at all costs too...:D:D
Who's that? Cause I like Mundy also, don't meet many Mundy fans around here.

I really rate Mundy but the way you defend a couple players as if they can never do anything wrong is a bit ghey.
Heh... Never did I say they can do no wrong. I criticise everyone equally.

Some people appeared to just vote on stats or for their 5 favourite players though. I stopped reading the votes thread after round one but now that I can tell people how shit their votes are I will return. :)

Especially people who like Mundy and umpires, you two must be soul mates!!

Good to see you've found a sense of humour. :thumbsu:

I never said I liked umpires either ;) Its just tough to be one and we have to stop being stupid with free kicks.

Also, Had a sense of humour a long time ago otherwise I wouldn't be able to put up with some of the laughable stuff written on this board.

I think the point is the fact that no matter how many, whether one or two or ten or twelve, "stupid" free kicks we may or may not give away the umpires are not paying blantant ones which should go our way.
Its all about consistency and as a supporter thats all you want! But it does not seem like we are getting a fair go.

e.g. First quarter ball is up for grabs at norths CHF area Hinkley goes to ground to fight for the ball gets bumped front on (from my angle at ground level) and the free isn't paid! ball spills free and a north player jumps on it and the SAME thing gets bumped front on and the free is paid for him!!! That is inconsistant and thats what needs to change.

Ooooh, now that we have a thread for this, I can say it...

The BYB voting has not been utilised as it was originally intended, I feel. People seem to be voting for the sake of voting. How many games has Nick Suban (bless 'im, but still) made his mark on? Yet he leads Hill, who has been awesome and really changed the course of a few games.

Getting ten touches and generally having no influence of the game should not earn BYB votes. Not everybody is on the same page here so I am placing little trust in the votes reflecting anything useful.

Was a good idea IP, but I think it's turned out to be no good.

I guess it works similar to the Beacon Award. Some years players have won it just by showing up. For instance, I would not rate Warnock's season as good as Palmer's or Hasleby's.

I agree in that I think Hill has been better than Suban (even in the most recent game - yet Suban is inexplicably getting a lot of votes), but Suban has been more consistent over the year.

I wouldn't say he's been more consistent. Suban's worst so far is on par with Hill's worst. Suban is just yet to have his 'break-out' game yet. The expectations of a good game for him are lower.

I agree, unless they actually play a decent/influential game they shouldn't get votes. I would possibly of given Suban a vote against Carlton or WC, but that's probably it. Even then Hill was clearly the BYB in both those games.

I'd have Hill out in front easily.

Definitely agree with that. I suppose replace more consistent with not being the worst young bloke on the ground at any stage. If votes are handed out by default (like some Beacon awards), then by default, Suban will poll more.

Frankly, the fact that Suban hasn't polled at all in the best players and Hill has a fair bit, should override the BYB votes.

I give Suban votes because he's so gutsy. For a first year player of his age he is fearless and always looks like he really wants to win out there. Puts more serious players to shame. Don't think I've ever given him more than Hill. Hill is a little genius and sets up play. Wouldn't swap Hill for anyone in that draft or just about anyone in the AFL. Love him.

How is Pav rating so highly?

He seemed to be well down on form, or is that desire? I counted 3 separate incidents in the second quarter where there was a turnover and score as a direct result of Pav not making a 100% genuine attack on the ball.

He is our Captain, and a champion player, but I don't think he deserves the man love all the time.

Get off it!! He was sensational and CANNOT continue to carry the whole team which he has done for years now!
If it wasn't for Pav's efforts yesterday through the middle north would have won by 6+ goals!

I don't know many players in the league who can dominate through the middle with 2 players tagging him (Firrito then Gibson) and then go foward and have 3 defenders and still manage to kick goals!

Pav has to much on his plate! If he makes a mistake or two thats fine because no one is perfect and unless someone else step's up to help you cannot expect him to do anymore!
