Reportedly compensation packages for loved ones. I'd be pissed if that was my retrenchment package way back in 2004!

The families of the Kadyrovites killed in Ukraine are given potatoes, rice, onions and some other sweets as compensation. Just enough for a reminder.

I'd be pretty nervous if I was a Russian leader right now. They don't exactly have a history of letting leaders who ruin the livelihood of the ordinary folk live for too long.
You're predicting the future( maybe).
Putin and his generals have complete confidence in the plan.

"Wants to create refugee and humanitarian crisis in other nations."

Sets up humanitarian corridors that only lead to Russia.

I was being a little tongue in cheek. But.

A lot of the Oligarch money came originally from the corrupt behaviour by Yeltsin & then Putin. State resources & property 'changed hands' under nefarious circumstance.

So taking it would be from the 'proceeds of crime'.

ForEx should be forfeit for such an illegal act. The pretext for war was BS. They can pay for it.

Be that as it may, Russia is a sovereign nation …

… (which is one of the things Ukraine is currently fighting for) …

… so if there were crimes committed in Russia by the Oligarchs, then that’s a matter for the Russian legal system to deal with if they want to. It’s not the business of the sanctioning countries to deal with (* Note)

For example, how would we feel if Russia applied its laws to things we did here in sovereign Australia? (Their LGBT laws for example)

* Note: This provides an example why western nations have been utterly negligent over the last few decades about taking care with which countries they trade with.

Beg to differ somewhat.

RF may be a sovereign entity. However the courts are part of the corrupt political system. They hold no credibility.

Ukraine would have every right to demand reparations for such wanton aggression, murder & malicious mayhem caused for no justifiable reason. Ukraine was no threat to the RF, a nuclear power.

The Russian money & wealth salted around the world could be directed to help pay for & when any rebuild starts.

Russia could do SFA about it.

Very soon alternative energy, gas & oil sources will be organised. The RF will be cut off from the rest of the world as long as the current regime holds. The flight of brains will damage the country's prospects for many a decade to come.

meh. Its currently an invading piece of shit. So I would have no problem ****ing over their government and the apparatus of their government which includes their uber rich. Anyone of net worth > $1 billion USD pre war is fair game. Class warfare writ large baby!

Dont let the EU policy slip away from being front & centre - still $bils a day ? They wont be up for scrutiny.

Russian propaganda fail. Kadrov forces giving out products that were Ukranian and looted from Ukranians on the video they released.

Kadryov & the Russians claimed aid had been brought from Grozny.

The video showing the Ukranian products being given out to residents has now been deleted on official Russian social media and replaced with one showing just water being given out.

Some pretty horrific evidence of war crimes by retreating Russian troops north of Kyiv.

Civilians murdered with their hands tied behind their backs.

WARNING - Graphic footage:

I won’t post direct images in the thread but do a Twitter search for “Russian war crimes” or “Bucha” (the town where it happened) to see more graphic evidence

Couple of different concepts covered here …

(1) Private wealth. The oligarchs are private people with personal wealth (obviously through their business interests). They’re private individuals and not sure that there’s any mechanism to take extra-judicial confiscation of property. If they’ve broken the laws of the country that has confiscated their superyacht, then there would be recourse to repossess it. But otherwise? No.

(2) Sovereign wealth. (Eg: Central bank assets held by, or recognised by other countries) Would have thought playing around with that stuff would need a bit of care to avoid it leading to a declaration of war. The only country at war with Russia at the moment is Ukraine. Probably not a good idea to escalate that.
