If you had to who would you pick of the two? Personally i would go with Warnock as he is a good ruckman and good around the ground and while Sandilands can get his hand to the ball first he does little with it IMO.

And before all you Freo supporters rip my head off please understand this is my personal opinion and not a dig at your team.

(i apologize if this has already been post on BF)

The dees will hopefully poach Warnock like we did with Jeff White 10 years ago. Like the look of the kid. Sandilands is tall but thats about it really

No offence mate but imo melbourne would be one of the last clubs he would go to if he goes back to victoria, reasons being
  • Melbourne wouldn't be willing to give up the first round draft pick he probably is worth and they could get Natanui instead
  • Odds are he probably wouldn't want to be seen as following in his brothers footsteps (although he is a better player)
  • And Melbourne has some of the worst facilities of any team in the AFL

Don't underestimate how close the two brothers are. And i'm not sure about this but if he nominates for the PSD would melbourne not be one of, if not the frontrunner to pick him up?

This may be so, but he'd also be a walkup to get a gig as the #1 ruckman as well..

Fair enough. bit personally i'm confident he'll be at Fremantle next year.
Anyway atm Sandilands is alot better, but i think Warnock will be a much better player when he is at his peak and will probably overtake Sandi in the next 2 years and be the number 1 ruckman

I got the impression that while Sandilands gets a lot of hitouts because of his sheer size he isn't a very good tap ruckman that gets a lot of hitouts to advantage.

That's been proven to be a bit of a furphy. Stats have been posted numerous times on here that show Sandi has a 'tap to advantage' percentage as good as, or better than, Cox.

But a combination of an average midfield (who fumble a lot of his taps) plus the fact that he wins nearly every tap (and therefore by sheer numbers has more ineffective ones) makes people think that he can't tap to advantage.

The Sandiman is obviously better now but I would take Warock. Better pick for the long term I believe. I think he will be a gun.

* First round pick is irrelevant if Melbourne finishes last. We'll just do the same thing when Farmer returned to Freo, pick 17 or 18 or it's the psd.

* Odds are that the family are very close. I've heard that he would like to play with his brother

* True, however after this season our facilities will be much better with Casey, and once the OP precinct is completed our facilities will be as good as any other club. Irrelevant.

Warnock hasn't even stated that he wants to come home yet, I've heard from several sources that he has and that Melbourne is his preferred destination but I won't believe it until he makes a statement and it actually happens. I believe that he'll stay.

The Warnock deal has been done and dusted, he will be a Demon next year.
His preference is Melbourne and we will take him in the PSD.

Melbourne's ruck stocks aren't as bad as what many would think - Paul Johnson has improved out of sight this year, took some fantastic marks yesterday running back with the flight of the ball. Jamar is OK, not as talented as Johnson, but not bad either. White is passed his best, but still worth a spot on the list as a back-up, I personally don't think Warnock is going to improve the Dees performances, so they would be stupid to give a first-round draft pick for him.

Sandilands>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Warnock

Warnock is a hack who has done as good as nothing all year, yes he may one day be a good player but i have seen players with much, much more potential have very short careers in the AFL.

I totally agree. Sandilands is still young and rips over Warnock anyday.
Warnock is no more than a good player to me
